Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Aditi Sobti. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Aditi, first a big thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts and insights with us today. I’m sure many of our readers will benefit from your wisdom, and one of the areas where we think your insight might be most helpful is related to imposter syndrome. Imposter syndrome is holding so many people back from reaching their true and highest potential and so we’d love to hear about your journey and how you overcame imposter syndrome.
I don’t think I ever overcome imposter syndrome. It comes and goes and the pressure of “Will I make good work again?” always stays. Sometimes it helps to go through my old work and see the kind of progress I have made. To see how my skills, taste in good design, and ability to think in that direction have evolved over the years gives me tangible proof of my growth. This helps until I see a great piece of work and spiral again, wondering “If I’ll make good work again?”
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I’m an Advertising-focused Art Director and Designer. My work entails conceptualizing the look and feel of advertising campaigns and other marketing collaterals and ensuring they work cohesively across all platforms. I love to work on brands that are purpose-driven and looking to make a positive change in the world. I have worked on intimate wellness, non-profit, sustainability, and consumer brands. The most exciting part of the job is the challenge of adapting to a new brand every time- a jack of all trades but master of none.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Curiosity, Humility, and Initiative. You are a sponge for knowledge at this time, be humble about it. You will learn new things every day, be curious about it. Your energy will ensure the kind of projects you start to land, take the initiative.
Tell us what your ideal client would be like?
An ideal client is willing to take risks and stand out from the market while being true to their brand. They are also smart about strategizing communication and choosing an unconventional platform to build presence.
