Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Adrienne Blackstone. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Adrienne, first a big thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts and insights with us today. I’m sure many of our readers will benefit from your wisdom, and one of the areas where we think your insight might be most helpful is related to imposter syndrome. Imposter syndrome is holding so many people back from reaching their true and highest potential and so we’d love to hear about your journey and how you overcame imposter syndrome.
Imposter syndrome is a challenging experience,
The first step on my journey of dealing with imposter syndrome is recognizing and
acknowledging my feelings of self-doubt. Next, I learned that I needed to separate my thoughts from reality. I still
have my bad days but building my self-confidence through positive self-talk and affirmations is
beneficial on this journey of self worth. I set realistic goals and I focus on my
accomplishments rather than dwelling on my failures. I have an amazing support system which
include my family and friends. They provide valuable perspective and encouragement. This is
an ongoing journey and I always remember to give myself grace!
Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
Here at BLACKSTONE HEALTHCARE SOLUTIONS, LLC my goal is to provide high-quality healthcare services such as physician education, physician credentialing, medical auditing/billing/coding. I also teach medical coding and billing to both current and aspiring healthcare professionals and even those who want a career change.
Whether my clients need my Medical coding/Auditing services or my students need extra help after class hours, I make sure to allows put my clients needs first.
I strive to maintain the highest level of professionalism and integrity in all my interactions.
The most exciting part of what I do is sharing knowledge with up and coming healthcare professionals.
I always look forward to that text from one of my students informing me that they passed their board exam for medical coding.
This is definitely the highlight of the business!
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
During my journey as a healthcare professional the three most important qualities, skills or areas of knowledge was effective communication and interpersonal skills, Problem solving skills, and knowledge of healthcare systems.
The healthcare industry is continuously evolving. Always be open to learning a new skill and to not always focus on the money when being asked by a superior to take on a new project.
That experience could be invaluable to your future. You can add it to your resume and set yourself up for a higher paying position later.
To close, maybe we can chat about your parents and what they did that was particularly impactful for you?
The most impactful thing my parents did for me was their constant encouragement. They never discouraged me from trying new things or going new places.
I always received positive feedback and energy from them both.
hey are still supportive and always encourage me to do my best.
