Meet Airius Reed

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Airius Reed. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Alright, so we’re so thrilled to have Airius with us today – welcome and maybe we can jump right into it with a question about one of your qualities that we most admire. How did you develop your work ethic? Where do you think you get it from?
I get my work ethic from being in sports as a kid. Just observing and following good habits. Picking up on that at an early age is important because it sets that tone from that point forward.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
Yea for sure, So I’m from Gary IN and I’ve always been into sneakers and fashion. Growing up I loved music as well and I used to always look at what all the rappers were wearing for fashion tips. Fast forward to 2020 I started the brand SOBO with a few childhood friends.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
I think the 3 most important skills would be patience, perseverance, and staying disciplined/consistent. I say these 3 were most impactful is because you can only control the controllable. Everything isn’t going to happen on your time or when you feel like it. That’s why being patient and disciplined is so important. You’ll come across setbacks in the process for sure . That’s where the perseverance kicks in. The main thing is just to stay level headed and keep working because the road to success is a marathon.

To close, maybe we can chat about your parents and what they did that was particularly impactful for you?
Other than putting me in sports I would say my mom drilling the concept in my head about not depending on others and go make things happen. I use to always ask my mom random questions or for help and a lot of times she would tell me “go look it up” or “figure it out”. I never understood why but years later I saw that she wanted me to figure things out on my own to a degree. That was powerful because it showed me at a young age nothing will be given to you.
