Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Alecia Wellen. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alecia, so good to have you with us today. We’ve always been impressed with folks who have a very clear sense of purpose and so maybe we can jump right in and talk about how you found your purpose?
Intuition.
I come from a middle-class family and am a first-generation college student. Having to navigate college on my own and working full-time encouraged me to put one foot in front of the other on a path that was built for me, by society. My approach was traditional: graduate high school, attend college, get a job that made money, and climb to the next opportunity or promotion.
I got to the top of that space and realized the universe had been whispering to me until it became a nag that I was meant to do more. There is always a higher version of ourselves ready to be discovered, and when that nag from the universe became so persistent that I could not ignore it, I got quiet and started listening.
On a winter night, early in the morning, I had to put my beloved dog down due to pancreatic cancer and seizures. She was young, and the diagnosis was unexpected. At that moment, driving home without my best girl, I heard something that I knew I had heard before. The message is that life is short; make it count and find something with a more significant impact to pay forward to my community.
That intuitive moment sparked something in me to start asking:
Where am I?
How did I get here?
Is this what I want to be doing?
Is there something else that I am meant to do in this life?
I believe everything we need is inside us; all we have to do is access it. On that road of self-discovery, I went inward and radically embraced where I was. I was ready to do something bigger, better and different. Take a risk. Challenge myself. Be bold.
For several years of my corporate career, I participated in mentoring programs and found a lot of purpose there. I received great feedback from my mentees, saying I should get paid to mentor people. With an undergrad in Marketing, a Masters in Finance, and various industry-related licenses, I decided to add to my credentials and pursue a professional coaching certificate. I took a risk through that certification process and launched my own coaching and consulting firm. I wanted to set myself apart from other coaches, so I decided to blend in energy work. I knew this wasn’t mainstream and likely would get some raised eyebrows from my corporate partners, but I followed my intuition and tapped into something that only a few other coaches were offering.
I offer professional coaching, consulting, and Reiki to national and international leaders and high achievers looking to leverage their inflection points to reach a higher potential, whether in their personal or professional lives. I became seasoned in helping entrepreneurs, executives, and small businesses explore where they are now, how they want to accelerate, and elevating them to where they want to go next.
Helping individuals and small businesses optimize themselves in times of transition is where I thrive. My clients appreciate that I have 20+ years of business acumen alongside coaching credentials, and then, surprise! I help them tap into their energetic side, often the missing link to bringing their next highest self full circle.
Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
I draw upon 20+ years of professional experience in varying roles in the financial sector: compliance, marketing, operations, and sales capacities.
As the Founder + CEO of my own coaching and consulting firm, I offer professional coaching, consulting, and Reiki to national and international leaders and high achievers looking to leverage their inflection points to reach a higher potential, whether it be in their personal or professional lives. I am seasoned in helping entrepreneurs, executives, and small businesses explore where they are now, how they want to accelerate, and elevating them to where they want to go next.
Helping individuals and small businesses optimize themselves in times of transition is where I thrive.
The type of coaching and consulting I provide my clients is unique in that it blends my corporate business acumen and my 1200+ hours of coaching experience with Reiki energy work. It’s not every day you find a skilled coach who has corporate experience and addresses the unique individual’s energy as well.
I am not offering a one-size-fits-all package or six steps to success. My approach is centered on the present and is a forward-moving exercise. It starts with values and fulfillment, and once aligned, we bring our Saboteur (some people call this imposter syndrome or limiting self-belief, but collectively it’s the thing that keeps us playing safe and small) into view. Some coaches look to combat the Saboteur. I bring it in super close so my client gets so acquainted with it that it can be used as a rich resource.
Once that foundation is set with values, fulfillment, and the Saboteur, we move into coaching around the client’s agenda. We all have areas of our personal and professional lives that we want to level up by breaking cycles and deconditioning. My process is to create a container for exploration. Championing, challenging, shining a light on blind spots, and a lot of perspectives work. The process can be wildly uncomfortable as we are doing things that haven’t been done before and getting acquainted with a version of ourselves that we haven’t met before. Accountability in that exercise is critical.
I am grateful for my clients as they evolve through these growing pains that are undeniably uncomfortable. It gives me such a grand sense of purpose to watch them do hard things and become the version of themselves they are pursuing.
In 2024, I am thrilled to be launching more group and crowd coaching options to my lineup, so keep an eye on my website for all the great things to come.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Intuition Exposure
Network
These three things have been a gift and exactly what I would hope anyone forging their path taps into.
Everything we need is inside of us. I believe education is super important, but intuition is even more important to me. If we can listen to ourselves we can reach new heights throughout our lives. I get quiet whenever I feel chaotic, stuck, or like I just can’t get where I want to go. Tapping into intuition can be difficult for many clients because it requires trust, patience, and abandoning validation. When we get quiet, our intuition leads us to risk-taking and clarity, and it allows an expansion in the present moment that the busy day-to-day hustle and bustle drowns out.
Exposure to new ideas, people, and things is critical in life. When we visit the outskirts of our comfort zones, growth happens, and continuously exposing ourselves to different scenarios allows us to push our own limits and fundamentally grow as people.
A strong network is such a gift as it can provide long-term relationships with mutual benefits that lead to career advancement, fresh ideas, confidence, and support.
I recently learned about the mycelium network which provided a new take on “network” and a great metaphor. The mycelium network is nature’s network. It consists of incredibly tiny “threads” of the greater fungal organism that wrap around or bore into tree roots. Mycelium combines what’s called a “mycorrhizal network,” which connects individual plants to transfer water, nitrogen, carbon, and other minerals, creating symbiotic relationships underground. Humans create symbiotic relationships above ground as a way for all people to connect, work together, and share resources.
These three things have been the most impactful in my journey to date and I have no doubt they will continue to be.
How would you describe your ideal client?
My ideal client is someone who is committed to investing in themselves and is determined to be the next best version of themselves.
It’s not comfortable or easy to decondition and break cycles. It can be wildly uncomfortable to do things that haven’t been done before or become a version of ourselves we haven’t met before.
I work with high achievers going through a transformation and transition. Those stages in our lives require support, accountability, and exposure to new perspectives that are teased out through the coaching process. My process coaches the person, not the topic or obstacle. I believe we are whole just as we are, and nothing needs fixing. I engage my clients in a forward-looking process from where they are now to where they want to go. It’s not just about setting and achieving goals. It’s about who they want to be through the process of transformation and who that looks like on the other side of leveling up.
A shift is happening in their lives, and they are curious, perhaps scared of what comes next. A persistent voice reminds them that they are ready for something new and different, but they’re not sure what tools to use or how to launch this new adventure.
Change can be daunting, but they can also get comfortable with it. Whether they want something more, something less, or something different, they can trust that there is unimaginable depth to finding the right path.
As the client they have the luxury of creating their own agenda and defining how to envision your success. They are accountable for decisions, actions, and goals and will take the credit for being courageous in integrating these changes into their lives.
All of my clients, to date, have been curious, determined, and committed to doing what it takes to discover, grow, succeed, and reinvent their new definition of full potential. In your professional or personal life, making a difference, creating a lasting impression, or leaving a legacy is your goal, but something keeps getting in the way. These shifts can happen during times like these:
A lifestyle change
Entering or exiting a relationship
Striving for or obtaining a promotion
Starting a new business
Exploring and fostering a new idea or hobby
Graduation
Parenthood
Whatever the inflection point, I will help leverage it, so the next highest potential is reached.
