Hi Alexis, we’re so appreciative of you taking the time to share your nuggets of wisdom with our community. One of the topics we think is most important for folks looking to level up their lives is building up their self-confidence and self-esteem. Can you share how you developed your confidence?
Confidence is something you consistently have to work towards, but being able to trust what you say you are going to do, your follow through, and your execution has no replacement.

My name is Alexis, and I am the founder and owner of the custom travel planning agency, The Destination Designer. While living in Italy and being an avid traveler myself, I saw frustration with travel providers, purporting to be experts but often failing to deliver authentic and unique travel experiences, as well as the scandal of false and misleading online reviews. Inspired by my passion for travel and culture, which seemed to come naturally as the daughter of a flight attendant, I expanded what was a small travel blog and collection of guides to an international agency that aimed to redefine how we explore the world.
The Destination Designer seeks to eliminate bias and help our travelers sift through the overwhelming sea of misinformation by allowing them to lean on our real-life travel experience, partnerships, and relationships for personalized and customized experiences. Something that the traditional travel agency model did not solve. Best available or preferred rates are guaranteed, and an array of exclusive amenities such as room upgrades, complimentary breakfast, and welcome gifts are guaranteed perks to ensure our clients truly feel like VIPs.
Through the individual relationships and professional partnerships that I have forged, our clients have exclusive access to an ever-expanding network of delicious dining options, reliable drivers and boat captains, expert guides, hoteliers, sommeliers, archaeologists, chefs, and more. Most importantly, clients have complete visibility and control over where their budget is allocated. That means there are never any behind-the-scenes mark-ups, fees, or price adjustments that traditional travel agents or hotel concierges count on.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
The most impactful qualities/areas of knowledge were vision, execution, and evolution. The number one question I get from passionate travelers looking to create a profession in this space is, “how did you get started?” It boils down to hone in on the specifics of your vision or business plan, execute those goals, and as they play out in real-time and you receive feedback continue to evolve. From there, it is rinse and repeat.
To close, maybe we can chat about your parents and what they did that was particularly impactful for you?
From the age of 12, I have always had a job. School was never my only job, but my parents encouraged us to work and learn how to make our own money, amongst our education and other extracurricular activities. This not only instilled a strong work ethic but also confidence.
