We recently connected with Aleyna “Lele” Jones and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Aleyna “Lele”, so happy to have you on the platform and I think our readers are in for a treat because you’ve got such an interesting story and so much insight and wisdom. So, let’s start with a topic that is relevant to everyone, regardless of industry etc. What do you do for self-care and how has it impacted you?
I’m a private yoga instructor and holistic health coach based in downtown San Diego but travel often to teach around town. As a nutritionist by nature, I connect with my clients on personalized meal plans and nutrition recommendations. I also created the Wellness With Lele (WWL) Method, a virtual health and wellness platform. Based on my six-step methodology, the WWL Method teaches clients how to have a happy, whole life, without restriction.
The first three steps of the WWL Method are self-love, hormone health, and community support. The last three steps are spiritual empowerment, nutritional health, and financial freedom. Together, all six simple pillars are the building blocks to a balanced life.
When I’m feeling down, I turn to movement, meditation, and holistic medicine to nourish my body. Whether it’s making my morning smoothie, prepping my lunch salad, or treating myself to a latte, I always take care of myself first so I can take care of others. That’s why self-love is the biggest pillar of the WWL Method.
Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
The Wellness With Lele Method was designed out of pure necessity for my own weight loss journey in my twenties. Growing up, I played soccer, volleyball, and basketball, so I was always athletic. At 24, though, I moved to Los Angeles and supported myself by working remotely, spending hours sitting in a chair. I gained weight, struggled with my skin, and dealt with mobility issues.
My “mind-shift” happened when I started taking pilates classes in Malibu, making daily smoothies, and setting a steady routine. Suddenly, it was easier than ever to get back into shape, especially when I incorporated boxing and clean cooking into my regimen. It was this change, along with my mom’s health diagnosis, that inspired me to attend nutrition school and pursue life as a holistic health coach.
When I graduated in 2021, I created the WWL Method to share my unique, low-impact way of balancing your body – mind, heart, and soul. I also offer free health coaching consultations to see if my month-to-month, 3-month, or 6-month holistic programs are the right fit!
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
When it comes to wellness entrepreneurship, be as curious, creative, and consistent as possible. I always tell new business owners to follow their curiosity, no matter where it leads, to find their passion. One of my favorite mantras right now is to “keep pulling the thread” on whatever piques your interest – whether it’s something you’ve always been interested in or a completely new hobby. On the flip side, if something’s no longer serving you, there’s no harm in switching gears and pursuing a new path either.
What’s been one of your main areas of growth this year?
I’ve learned it’s important to receive feedback with a grateful heart. By taking in criticism with an open mind, you are able to expand and strengthen yourself as a professional. When you humble your ego, you’re able to grow and reframe mistakes as learning experiences, not failures. This year, I started to ask myself “What can I learn from this?” instead of “Why is this happening to me?” Without this “mind-shift,” I definitely wouldn’t be exactly where I am today.
