My resilience stems from a combination of family values and an unwavering passion for what I do. Growing up, I had the unique privilege of watching two incredible women – my mother, Valerie, and Aunt Shirley – orchestrate every family, church, and community event with such grace and attention to detail. My mother taught me the power of time management and the importance of genuinely welcoming every guest, while my aunt inspired my creative side, showing me the beauty in personal touches and design.

These experiences taught me early on that creating memorable moments takes more than just planning; it’s about pouring heart and soul into every detail, staying grounded, and finding solutions when challenges arise. This foundation, combined with my journey of building Events by Winnie from the ground up, has made me resilient. I view each wedding as a unique story, and I’m honored to be the one who brings that vision to life – no matter the obstacles. For me, resilience means committing to the vision, adjusting as needed, and ensuring each couple feels celebrated in a way that’s truly theirs.

I’m Alishia Winters, a premier wedding planner and the driving force behind Events by Winnie, LLC, based in the heart of Atlanta. Growing up, I learned the art of planning and hospitality from my mother, Valerie, and my aunt Shirley, who both inspired me to turn my lifelong love for event coordination into a full-fledged career. Today, I’m honored to carry their legacy forward, creating unforgettable experiences that are uniquely tailored to each couple’s vision.

Events by Winnie focuses exclusively on weddings and micro weddings, offering a personalized approach that emphasizes inclusivity and attention to detail. My goal is to ensure every couple not only feels celebrated but also enjoys a seamless planning journey where their dreams take center stage. Whether it’s our Emerald Package, which provides essential day-of coordination to keep everything running smoothly, our Sapphire Package with monthly check-ins and vendor management, or our full-service Diamond Package for couples who want to hand over all the details, each service reflects my commitment to excellence.

What excites me most about this business is the ability to connect deeply with my clients and witness their love stories come to life. If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Looking back, the three qualities that have been most impactful on my journey are adaptability, attention to detail, and empathy – qualities that have shaped Events by Winnie and are essential in wedding planning.

Adaptability is key because no two weddings are alike, and challenges often arise. Embracing each one as a learning opportunity builds strength and resourcefulness.

Attention to detail elevates an event from ‘good’ to ‘extraordinary.’ Developing systems for even the smallest elements prepares you for seamless execution.

Finally, empathy allows me to connect with clients and understand their dreams, creating experiences that feel uniquely theirs. Listening with care makes all the difference.

These three qualities are at the heart of my work. For those starting out, remember that dedication to these traits builds a strong foundation for success.

How would you describe your ideal client?
My ideal client is someone who values a personalized, detail-oriented approach and trusts me to bring their vision to life. They’re open to collaboration, willing to communicate their ideas, and appreciate the importance of both the big picture and the small, meaningful details.

Whether they have a clear vision or just a few ideas, my ideal clients are excited to be part of a planning journey that’s stress-free and uniquely theirs. They also value inclusivity, aligning with my commitment to celebrating love in all its forms, especially within the LGBTIQ+ community. Ultimately, they want a planner who genuinely listens, understands their dreams, and is dedicated to creating a one-of-a-kind experience that feels just right for them.
