Meet Alison Stine

We were lucky to catch up with Alison Stine recently and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Alison, thank you for being such a positive, uplifting person. We’ve noticed that so many of the successful folks we’ve had the good fortune of connecting with have high levels of optimism and so we’d love to hear about your optimism and where you think it comes from.
I identify as an eternal optimist. I believe that optimism is vital to get through life. We are often thrown curve balls and things don’t usually go according to plan, so it is so important to focus on the positive and what is in your control. We can easily consume ourselves with negative thoughts and dwell on past shortcomings or experiences but that only gives more power to the negativity and makes it harder to move on. Positivity is a learned behavior, I have worked to express gratitude daily – whether that is keeping a gratitude journal, sending gratitude to others, or just telling myself positive things on a daily basis. Optimism is a work in progress but it is one of my Core Values that I continue to strive for.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
I work with individual and business owners to help them progress toward their financial goals through investment and retirement accounts. I am a fully licensed Financial Advisor with over 10 years of experience. One of my favorite parts of my career is helping others by taking a stressful and overwhelming area of their life, being their finances, and creating clarity and a solid plan on how they will send their children to college, buy a second home, retire at a desired age, pass their assets on from one generation to the next, etc. I take a very thorough, customized, and empathetic approach by learning about my clients and what is important to them, and seeing how we can build good habits to accumulate wealth. A big focus for me this year is leading with intention, ensuring that I am available and attentive to my clients, and continuing my community involvement by giving back to others and being involved in organizations across the valley.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Positivity, Perseverance, and Passion. We spoke about positivity but this has been a large part of my success – without a positive mindset I would not be where I am today. I am constantly working on listening to motivational and positive podcasts, reading books, and extending gratitude to others. Perseverance is key to not giving up when the journey gets tough. There is no overnight success, it takes time to build a business, client base, brand, and network. Without perseverance, it is easy to give up or bounce around from job to job always thinking that the grass is greener elsewhere. Perseverance will set you apart if you are in the right line of work that aligns with your passions. “Hard work beats talent when talent fails to work hard.” -Tim Notke. Lastly, passion will ultimately lead you to success. You need to do something that you are truly passionate about. Something that excites you to wake up each day and fills your bucket. Analyze what you love to do, your ‘why’, and how you can align your career with your passion. For me, that is helping others, organizing, and numbers. I get energy from helping someone else, absolutely love to organize and plan, and count everything that I see.

Any advice for folks feeling overwhelmed?
Take a deep breath, meditate, or go for a walk. It is so important that we care for ourselves and manage stressful situations well. I often pause when things get overwhelming to go through a breathing exercise or meditate to help lower my heart rate. I also love to get outside and get some Vitamin D from the sun and breathe in the fresh air. We often sit at a desk for hours on end so please take time to care for yourself. At the end of the day, your health is your wealth.
