We were lucky to catch up with Allanah Gonzales recently and have shared our conversation below.
Allanah, so great to be with you and I think a lot of folks are going to benefit from hearing your story and lessons and wisdom. Imposter Syndrome is something that we know how words to describe, but it’s something that has held people back forever and so we’re really interested to hear about your story and how you overcame imposter syndrome.
The biggest issue for me was learning to just trust my Spiritual team/Guides. How was I supposed to understand and be ok with the things that had been happening around me that nobody else could see, feel or hear? At times I even wondered if I was losing my mind. Taking the time to actually work with my gifts and finding others to talk to who had these same experiences really helped me. Through this whole adventure I’ve really learned to understand and work with my intuition. Do i still get imposter syndrome? Absolutely, but it’s definitely something that I can brush off because I’ve done the work needed to be where I am.
Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
I am the owner of Green Space Readings. Initially I had started out as a Tarot / Oracle reader and over these past 4 years I have really expanded. I am a certified Reiki level 2 Practitioner. This is a form of energy work which can be done in person or long distance. I hand pour soy based intention candles. These can be for Self-love, help with Anxiety, or Prosperity. I also design journals. I recently just came out with my first Tarot Journal. All my journals can be found on my website
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
One would be this one summer in High School that I just felt I had to learn to shuffle cards “Casino style”. I like to think it was the universe gently nudging me to this work. Also, learning how to work through chaos was a big help. I have 3 children, and at the time I was starting to read tarot for clients online we went on lockdown. Suddenly the quiet that I had grown accustomed to while working was gone. That’s definitely not my kids fault, but it is something I needed to adjust too, and I did. Now I’m able to do Tarot in public with music playing, and many other people around. Trusting my feelings and the messages i receive is so important with this line of work. while yes using the Tarot helps me, ultimately it’s my intuition that does a lot of the work. For example, tarot cards have an upright meaning and a reverse meaning. I could pull a card in the upright position but my intuition will tell me to explain it as reversed.
I think if anybody is questioning if this work is for you, If you feel like you are being guided to do or go on a spiritual journey like this. Do it! I can’t express how much I’ve learned about myself. And how my life has truly changed for the better. Do know that on some occasions you will have to take that hard look in the mirror and realise that it’s time to do some healing/growing.
Before we go, maybe you can tell us a bit about your parents and what you feel was the most impactful thing they did for you?
Honestly being supportive, and never judging me for the work I do. My mother is a medium. I can literally say that “I got it from my momma”. She has been on this journey longer then I have. So it’s nice being able to be open about my gifts. Things change a lot all the time believe it or not. I can get comfortable with the way I receive information one day. Only to have things change or be added the next. My mother actually taught me how to work with my mediumship capabilities. I find myself calling her every time I do one to talk about the experience.
