Allie, so excited to have you with us today. So much we can chat about, but one of the questions we are most interested in is how you have managed to keep your creativity alive.
I am very blessed to be very creative. I love to use my creativity in the treats that I make. I love when customers allow me creative freedom on their order. It allows my creativity to take over and shine through my work. I keep my creativity alive by brainstorming new ideas and taking time to put my ideas into action on a cake, cupcakes or cookies!

After watching baking shows as a child, I knew I wanted to become a baker. I was given my first opportunity to make a wedding cake for my cousin. It was after the wedding that my dream of starting my own bakery was born! After graduating high school, I enrolled in culinary school. While completing my school work, I started running Allie Cakes. I am now graduated from Baking and Pastry school and am almost 2 years into running my own business!
Allie Cakes is a home bakery located in Land O Lakes Florida that specializes in custom cakes, cupcakes and cookies! I cater to individuals who want a special dessert that is going to make their loved ones smile. My love of baking has turned into the desire to create just the right dessert for your occasion! From sprinkles, fondant and buttercream designs, let Allie Cakes bring the sweet life to your special day!
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
I would say organization, good communication and a knowledge of social media. You need to have good organization skills to keep track of all the emails and order forms you will receive.
Good communication is very important! You need to be clear and get the point across in emails you send and conversations you may have.
Some knowledge of social media would be great to have! My business has really grown through social media. I started it having no idea how to even run a social media account but over time and with a little practice I quickly began to learn all about it.
What’s been one of your main areas of growth this year?
My biggest area of growth has been wedding cakes. I absolutely love making wedding cakes! I love being a part of a couple’s special day! I have been given lots of opportunities to make wedding cakes recently and I have been able to practice a lot of new techniques! My decorating of wedding cakes has improved as well! I have a good amount of wedding cakes coming up in the fall and I am so excited! I have also been able to participate in a bridal event and a styled photoshoot at a wedding venue which were both amazing experiences!
