Meet Alyssa Robinson

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Alyssa Robinson a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Alyssa, so happy you were able to devote some time to sharing your thoughts and wisdom with our community. So, we’ve always admired how you have seemingly never let nay-sayers or haters keep you down. Can you talk to us about how to persist despite the negative energy that so often is thrown at folks trying to do something special with their lives?
When doing anything you do not want to be around negative people. The best way is to avoid and ignore them. I have learned that haters are always going to be there regardless and there is nothing you can do about it. As long as I am satisfied I don’t think about what others think. There will always be people who don’t agree with you and how you do things and that is okay.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
Hi! My name is Alyssa Robinson and I am the 18 year old entrepreneur of Sweet Treats by Lyssa, your number one source for all sweet treats! I am located in Middle Georgia but I do serve the whole state of Georgia. I started my business at 12 years old in 8th grade by making brownies and cupcakes to friends and family. Eventually, I started to expand to other treats like chocolate-covered strawberries, oreos, pretzels, etc. Now I am a one stop shop for all treats and cakes. I am striving more than ever with all my days booked and never getting a break. I have received so much support from friends, family, and even strangers. On August 28th I will be celebrating my business making six years and I hope to have gained way more supporters and followers.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Knowledge about business, financing, and leadership had the most impact in my journey. These assets made it easier for my to start my business. I knew how to run a business, how to be a leader in my business, and how to make profits and budget my money correctly. I would tell anyone wanting to start a business to never short there self and make sure they are making a profit to stay open everything else will come along the way. Every business is not the same or ran the same way so my advice would be to not try to be like somebody else.

One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?
Yes I am always looking to partner or collaborate with people. I really love doing things for the community so I would love to be apart of things for the homeless or my community. If anybody is wanting to collaborate with me they can always text, email, or call me!
