We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Amanda A. Carpenter. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Amanda A. below.
Amanda A. , we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.
I love helping people and have always had a deep interest in health and vitality, so I began my career in 2001 as a physical therapist, specializing in sports and work-related injuries. Pursuing the path of traditional success, I earned my doctorate and accumulated multiple credentials related to human performance. With a drive to provide better care I began Carpenter Physical Therapy, a successful holistic private practice for 15 years. My work as a physical therapist in the world of third party insurance payers was taking more from my health than it was giving me.
Near burnout and frustration with the allopathic system set me on a profoundly transformative journey. In my quest to restore my own health, I acquired multiple holistic certifications related to human performance and behavioral change. Ultimately discovering the secret to all human performance—the power of the heart.
This journey led me to my true calling and fulfillment—guiding and empowering others on their path to vitality through my unique process. I believe that our behaviors and skills, can either deteriorate our health or enhance it, depending on how we choose to apply them. I see the body as a messenger, signaling when we are out of alignment with our authentic self.
I excel in helping individuals unearth and break free from patterns that hinder progress toward fulfillment. I believe these patterns, often viewed as obstacles, possess unique hidden superpowers. When we harness these powers with discernment, and align with our heart’s desires, fulfillment is the gift we discover. Our true purpose is uncovered through our own trials and tribulations and when found will give us vital energy.
Among my many teachers who guided my journey to find my purpose, my wise yellow lab Leica was my greatest, she taught me invaluable lessons about fear, unconditional love, and the gift of presence.
Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
I help powerful, high achievers find freedom and peace, while being fulfilled by their work and living a life beyond their wildest dreams. I do this using my unique process through one-on-one and group coaching programs, retreats and workshops and online self-paced programs. I get my clients the fastest, easiest transformation to freedom.
I imagine a world where we all show up authentically and are fulfilled by the work we do because we share our gifts with the world. I am always accepting new and supporting my clients, while engaging in projects aligned with my soul’s purpose:
Excited to share a new podcast and workshop collaboration with internationally renowned dog behavior counselor and trainer, Brian Kilcommons. For over three decades Brian’s mission has been to improve the relationship people have with their dogs. In our podcast, we’ll explore the profound connection between dogs’ and human behavior. Dogs can be a great form of self-care, but unresolved emotions or triggers (we may not even be aware of) will inevitably surface in our relationship and how we interact with our dogs. This new project has been so fun and I’m exicted to share what Bailee and I have learned.
Laura Mazzotta’s new book “Holistic Mental Health: Volume 2” due out in April includes a chapter I wrote titled “Misdiagnosed. The Secret to Healing Your Illness” by Dr. Amanda A. Carpenter.
This August 16-18, 2024, I’ll be hosting a luxury camping retreat workshop for Executive Leaders and their families in collaboration with Adirondack Safari. Located in the Lake George region of the Adirondack Mountains, their glampsites include fully furnished tents, outdoor activities, and access to river frontage directly on the Schroon River. The weekend promises a unique blend of relaxation, adventure, and rejuvenation amidst nature’s beauty.
And…my husband Jason and I have a new story telling podcast project that is very close to our heart called “Lessons with Leica.” Due out late March / early April, we share the stories of our evolution through the core of our yellow lab. Each episode, we’ll dive into the memories, the laughter, the guilt and shame, and the lessons that Leica left behind, a luminous warrior whose legacy isn’t just in the joy she brought, but in the lives she transformed.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
1. My limiting beliefs served me well early in my journey. One of them being that “It’s my responsibility to take care of everyone”, this limiting belief prevented me from checking out with suicide, in the midst of my illness and burnout. I believe our limiting beliefs are not to be completely cleared, but rather we are to discern the use of their application. For example, when I am now decision making, I apply the filter “Is this my responsibility?” I listen for the answer from my higher self, and filter the responses from my small self.
2. My work ethic gave me the drive when I was exhausted and wanted to give up and I didn’t believe anyone was coming to rescue me, so I had to rescue myself. That is a key! No one can rescue us, we are the only ones that can rescue us.
3. My knowledge of the human body and how the chemistry applies to human behavioral change helped me to realize the importance of self-care to charge my battery.
My advice to those early in their journey…….use your superpowers to help you rather than wasting energy applying them, self-care is whatever charges your human performance battery, it’s ok if it looks different than others, and love yourself. Unconditional love will allow you to do unimaginable things.
To close, maybe we can chat about your parents and what they did that was particularly impactful for you?
The most impactful thing my parents did for me was to not provide financial security for me to fall back on. This made me have to be self-sufficient when I wanted something. It taught me to manifest things at a very early age; if I wanted something, I needed to want it bad enough and work hard enough. It taught me how to use my energy efficiently in alignment with my deepest desires. I also gave me the courage to take chances.
