Meet Amanda Beat

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Amanda Beat. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Hi Amanda, thanks for sharing your insights with our community today. Part of your success, no doubt, is due to your work ethic and so we’d love if you could open up about where you got your work ethic from?
Oh goodness, this is an excellent question. Work ethic is a VERY important trait in everyone. As a business owner this is something I can spot in people rather quickly, to be honest. You can tell right away if someone has a good work ethic or not. Luckily, I was raised by two wonderful parents who instilled in me right away that a strong work ethic is super important. My dad was partners with another guy in a business they started from when I was very young, he worked his butt off everyday and never missed a day!! Then he would come home and work in his garage on his classic cars until he was tired or hungry. LOL. This man NEVER stops working even to this very day at over 60. He is still running a business and working on his classic cars plus has a side business fixing carburetors. My mom has also helped him in all his business endeavors plus she has always had her own full time positions where she excelled and quickly moved up the ladder. Both of them rarely take days off or are sick for any reason. Work ethic on both sides have always been very strong and shown me exactly how I wanted to work when I could work. So, at the young age of 14 (in IA) you can get a job with minimal hours, so that is exactly what I did. I worked at an ice cream shop first, followed by a short stint at Pizza Hut, and then another short bit at Hardees. Finally at 16, I could work more hours and could get my first “real” job. That was when I started working at the local pharmacy and fell in love with Pharmacy. I never missed a day, loved everyday I would be there and would go above and beyond for this family that owned the pharmacy. This place changed my career. It really built my work ethic and I am still friends with the owners of that pharmacy to this very day. They would recommend me and still would to this very day. This is a great example of work ethic. Since I showed great work ethic. they will refer me to everyone and they even trust in my business that I have started.
I went on from this pharmacy to another pharmacy where I demonstrated excellent work ethic again and all of those people I worked for are all my friends to this very day. They all even will refer me to whomever I need them to.
Work ethic is something you demonstrate of yourself everyday. You show up on time, put together, everyday and you are happy to be there and doing what you love (even when you don’t really, or have a bad day). You never miss days and you are not negative. You contribute and you work your tail off to get the job done. Is this you??

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I am the agency owner of Beat Insurance Services, LLC. We are a full service, independent insurance agency that helps ALL individuals, families and business owners in TX, FL, AZ, AL, KS, NE, and IA, with all of their insurance needs. This can be anything from a new home purchase, to pet insurance, or a business owners policy. We also quote peoples upcoming renewals on their auto/home insurance or maybe they are a real estate investor and need multiple policies for their rental properties. Maybe someone has an RV/ATV/Golf Cart/Boat/Motorcycle or whatever toy, we do it all. After we send them quotes, we are happy to advise them of what is the best and then let them decide what they would like to pick and go from there. Once we set them up with new policies, we can also make changes to existing policies or we can even shop rates when their policies come up for renewal. Now please keep in mind, all of our magic worked is for FREE. This is UNLIKE some other guys out there who are charging fees for there work that is not nearly as good. Why? Well, most of these inexperienced agents are ONLY selling on price ALONE, and that is where most clients get into trouble come claim time.
We are EXPERTS, with over 20 years of experience from all different types of insurance experience (captive, corporate and independent).
My personal background comes from being an agent with Allstate for over 7 years, then I was an agent for a Goosehead agent for a very short stint before working for another independent agent for almost 3 years. After working for the independent agent I knew what my calling was and started Beat Insurance Services in Jan. 2020. The rest is history as we have been receiving all of our clients by referrals only since starting. This is a huge accomplishment and we are very proud of this as we continue to strive in 2023.
2023 is all about GROWTH!!! We are going to be hiring more sales agents, grow on social media and try to host an exclusive networking event. We are so excited about the growth and cannot wait for our clients and followers to experience this as well.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Honestly, I really believe the three most important areas of knowledge that were most impactful in my journey to becoming a successful agency owner of Beat Insurance Services, LLC were definitely years of job shadowing, years of different insurance experience and networking/social experiences. Why these three? Well I say these three due to the fact that if it wasn’t for these 3 key areas of knowledge, I would not be where I am today in the business. The first one is job shadowing. The reason this is critical is since you will learn SO much from other professionals in the industry that you will either take with you or learn not to do.
The second one is working in different aspects of the insurance industry. I worked for a captive agent (Allstate) for over 7 years. I learned SO much from this experience that I needed to know to run my independent agency. Then I worked for a corporate type insurance (Goosehead) and learned very quickly this was NOT what I wanted. Lastly I worked for another independent agent and learned how much I loved this but there were things this agency did that I NEVER would do. All of these experiences opened my eyes to different types and aspects of insurance that I otherwise would not have known. It is very important to get experience before jumping right in. Taking all these experiences into my business really helped my define what I wanted to do and NOT do in my business. The agents I worked for before starting my agency really helped me define important goals, processes and hiring techniques that I use today. I am ALWAYS learning everyday and I think it is vital to growth in your business. Everyone interested in learning about insurance should take the time to job shadow great agents in all different realms of insurance so they know exactly what works and what doesn’t for them. It sure helped me get to the point I am today in my business.

What’s been one of your main areas of growth this year?
Here at Beat Insurance Services, we are growing at a rapid pace! We are struggling to keep up actually and are looking to hire an additional 3-4 licensed sales agents and 2 service agents. We get so many referrals everyday that it is hard for us 3 to currently keep up with everything coming in. If you or someone you know is interested in working from home, getting licensed to sell P&C insurance or is already licensed, please have them reach out to me (Amanda Beat). I would love to speak with them. We also look for college students who are interested in insurance. We would love for them to come in and learn from us. I am a great teacher and would love for someone to come in and gain knowledge from the best of the best.
We are always growing, so if you or someone you know is interested, please have them reach out to Amanda Beat ASAP.
