We recently connected with Amanda & Lauren With SYNT travel and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Amanda & Lauren , really happy you were able to join us today and we’re looking forward to sharing your story and insights with our readers. Let’s start with the heart of it all – purpose. How did you find your purpose?
You could say that SYNT has always been an idea brewing. We’ve always shared our love and passion for travel with others and finally decided to turn it into a business. We’ve been friends for over 20 years and are both avid travelers. We’re know as the “go-to” people for travel advice. One day I ( Amanda) made a comment that I wish I could do this for work. Lauren responded with “why not? Let’s do it together” . From there the idea snowballed, and quickly. SYNT was created and we have been able to share our passion for travel. Our true purpose is to connect clients with experiences across the globe.
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
My name is Amanda Boyson. I’ve actually worked in the healthcare field for almost 15 years. Honestly, my urge to travel and love for it stems from my years of treating cancer patients when a person is diagnosed with a potentially fatal disease, they begin to look back on their life and have regrets. A lot of my patients had told me they wish they would have seen the world with the people they love by their side. I guess this just stayed with me and at a young age I began my world travels. I have summitted Mount Kilimanjaro. I was married under a waterfall in Iceland, and I’ve swim with humpback whales in Tonga just to name a few. I’m a true traveler and adventurer, and I’ve always helped others plan and organize their trips. Combining myself, and Lauren‘s experience and skills we truly make the perfect team as a travel advisors.
My name is Lauren Samson. I am a certified sommelier, hospitality, professional, and bona fide vagabond! With almost 2 decades in this industry, I’ve grown a passion for travel, and connecting through gastronomy. I believe there’s no better way to experience a culture than through food. My mission is to guide people to the most authentic and memorable culinary adventures. This world has to offer. I grew up in South Florida, and have known my business partner Amanda since we were kids. We always shared such a dynamic relationship even through all of life‘s twists and turns. As we grew older, we simultaneously grew our passion for travel.
It wasn’t until recently after years of travel, that we knew we had to share our passion with others. We began noticing a common theme among our friends and family. They all wanted to know our secrets! How we navigate destinations, decide activities choose eateries, ensure safety, and find the best deals. Recognizing this widespread interest, we aimed to cater to the many who year in to travel, but feel lost. Our offering is an all encompassing white glove style of travel. We handle everything from inception to conclusion. Getting to understand your preferences and vacation desires with meticulously research plan and arrange every aspect of your trip, organizing it in easy to use itineraries. Our goal is to stay within your budget while curating an experience that matches your vision. The beauty of our service? You won’t have to lift a finger! Save time, save money, and rest assured that your dream vacation will materialize. We differ from the average travel advisors as we act as your personal concierge before during, and after your journey.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Amanda- I’m extremely curious & adventurous which has brought me to the far corners of the world which has given me unique travel experience. I am extremely organized which helps in building a clients itinerary. Lauren- I have many years of experience in the hospitality industry, which helps when I’m working with clients and my experience as a sommelier allows me to have the knowledge and experience of destinations around the world.
Our advice for people who are early in their business journey is to continue to work and keep your blinders on. Keep your final goal in mind do not stray.
Do you think it’s better to go all in on our strengths or to try to be more well-rounded by investing effort on improving areas you aren’t as strong in?
We think you should go full force in on your strengths that is a reason why we knew we could partner together. While we have similar interests and knowledge, we both have very different strengths, and we’re able to balance each other out. As the business grows, we continue to learn, and we do develop strengths where we lack, however, we keep the focus on our strengths as individuals because that is where we shine.
