We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Ambjaay a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Ambjaay , so excited to have you with us today, particularly to get your insight on a topic that comes up constantly in the community – overcoming creativity blocks. Any thoughts you can share with us?
When I’m having a writers block. I just stop and do something else. Then I would go back to it. Sometimes I need a distraction or motivation.
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
My name is Ambjaay and I’m a songwriter, and artist. I am a platinum recoding artist from Watts, California. I have my own unique sound that stands out from the rest. My platinum record is called Uno. I aspire to create timeless music. Also, I would love to become an actor. I love making people laugh. I was a class clown in school. The goal for me is to have several successful businesses. I’m hoping my music will open more doors and opportunities. I’m currently working on a project. I will be releasing pretty soon. I’m also going to be having my own merchandise. My brand is very important to me. Music is my passion and purpose. I would like to spread love and hope through my music.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
If I could give someone advice I would say be coachable, research the music industry before trying to do music, and when you have s viral song make sure you keep up the momentum don’t stop.
Learning the industry was the most impactful thing to me. When I first started I didn’t know a lot of things I know now. I had to learn it and I didn’t have help or no one to turn to.
How can folks who want to work with you connect?
I would like to have several different businesses. I want my own investment properties, cologne, sports team, clothing line. I would also like to collaborate with a major label.” Everything else looks good so far. The goal is to become an A&R. I want to help other artists make hits. I also would want to star in movies . I don’t want to be an artist my whole career. I want to venture out to new things. Last but not least I want to get involve in tech. I would like to partner with my siblings. I want to keep all in the family. I would like to work with Tyler Perry, 50 Cent on Power, Drake, Lil Baby, and Nicki Minaj. I would also like to collaborate with the Jordan brand.
