Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Amina Kargbo. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Amina, we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.
Thank you for having me back. I’d say I found my purpose by finding myself and, through life experiences that have led me to where I am today. From birth, most of us are taught and conditioned to live our lives a certain way. Once those goals are met (or lack thereof) and we still don’t feel fulfilled, we begin to question our true purpose in life. I remember getting to that point and praying for guidance. Some are blessed to tap into their purpose very early on and for others it is discovered while on what we think is a completly unrelated journey. I realized that before I could even scratch the surface of helping others, I first had to help myself. I had to unlearn old teachings and coping mechanisms. I had to master loving myself as well as how to deal with and express my emotions effectively. It’s a continues journey. Growing up, I knew nothing about meditation and sound therapy. It just wasn’t a household staple, much less something I saw being advertised or taught. Even though it’s exhisted for thousands of years, I wasn’t in a place in my life to recieve that calling. Once I began intentionally asking myself those tough questions and seeking out my assignment, those modalities of healing found me. The more people I touch through meditation, the more and more I believe that I have found my purpose in this life. I believe your purpose is something that you enjoy doing effortlessly, makes you feel fulfilled upon completion, and most importantly benefits others.
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
As a meditation facilitator, I guide my participants through an inner experience to reach a specific objective. That objective could be as simple as relaxing their body and mind or as complex as a journey that includes sound bowls, guided imagery and thought-provoking questions throughout the meditative experience. What’s most exciting about my work is that no client or experience is ever the same. The conversations at the end of each session always give me life and further assure me that I am doing what I was placed here to do. With more and more entities making mental wellness a priority, it has been a blessing to not only share my craft with individuals but i am now working with schools, nonprofit organizations and corporate offices.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
I’d say the three most impactful qualities I have learned on my journey are patience, gratitude, and confidence. Have the patience to study, learn, and develop your skills. Exercise gratitude for how far you have come on your journey and for all that is to come in the future. Thank your higher power for the people you will impact through your craft even before you meet them, as well as the people who have impacted you. Lastly, have the confidence in yourself to deliver. Believe in your heart of hearts that you have something that is worthy of sharing with the world, because we all do. Even if only a few people feel you, that’s a few lives you’ve played a hand in changing and that’s what we are here on this earth to do, uplift each other.
One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?
I would absolutely love to meet new people to partner and collaborate with. The goal is to heal, build, and expand. I sometimes find marketing, advertisement, and content creating to be a bit of a struggle, which in turn stunts my reach, so being able to have this platform is something I am very grateful to VoyageATL for. I look forward to partnering and collaborating with other healers, schools, business entities, musical artists, wellness/retreat centers, and anyone who truly sees the benefit in adding sound therapy and meditation to their already amazing playbook.
