Meet Amira Gadd

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Amira Gadd. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Hi Amira, thanks for sharing your insights with our community today. Part of your success, no doubt, is due to your work ethic and so we’d love if you could open up about where you got your work ethic from?
I got my work ethics from my mom, my teachers and observing successful people who are working hard and are getting great results.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
I love music and paying attention to songs in visual media. This led me to getting hired as Creative Manager at Truly Music Sync Agency. What I love about this job is that I get to handle songs that I used to listen to on the radio or in my room by my favorite artists so that they can be placed in ads, promos, T.V., film, trailers or Video Games. I am also discovering new emerging artists who are incredibly talented. As a lyricist and a songwriter, the fact that I get to review the lyrics of the songs to see if it matches a brief is a literal dream. This is truly a manifestation of a fun job. In very little time, I was able to grow in the music industry, especially the Sync world, due to showing up, learning, asking questions and making sure that all of my ducks are in row. I realized that I got this job because of my work ethics. My boss, Wendy Griffiths, is the best! I am very grateful.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Definitely, showing up at events to learn about the music and synch business, growing my song catalogue, and finishing songs from A to Z were impactful in my journey.

Okay, so before we go, is there anyone you’d like to shoutout for the role they’ve played in helping you develop the essential skills or overcome challenges along the way?
Mentors. Mentors. Mentors. Having mentors definitely have been helpful in overcoming challenges and helping me build the skills and knowledge I needed to find my path and succeed. The money I’ve spent investing in their classes or consultation came back. Invest in mentors. You will save years and many mistakes learning from them.
