Meet Amy Lin

We were lucky to catch up with Amy Lin recently and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Amy , thank you so much for opening up with us about some important, but sometimes personal topics. One that really matters to us is overcoming Imposter Syndrome because we’ve seen how so many people are held back in life because of this and so we’d really appreciate hearing about how you overcame Imposter Syndrome.
My first experience with imposter syndrome occurred during my transition from being a realtor to becoming the wealth mindset coach. I remembered clearly that one day when I was pondering how I was going to get clients into my coaching program, I started feeling anxiety in my body. I felt like a fraud and my inner voice was chattering, “who do you think you are, you are not a coach.” “Who is going to listen to you?” And I didn’t even know it was anxiety, until a friend of mine said to me, “Amy, I think you are having an anxiety attack.” That’s when it dawned on me that I’ve hit the “terror barrier”.

The term “terror barrier” is a term coined by the late Bob Proctor, my initial mentor. It signified the a state of being where you are entertaining a new idea and when you look outside at your current world, you won’t the resources or the means on how the new idea will unfold, and in that moment, fear and doubt creep in, and this is when most people retrieve to their old ways and they give up on the new idea. An example could be a 9-5 employee thinking of quitting his/her job to start his/her own business ends up staying in the job because he/she doesn’t know how to run a business.

I am so glad at the time, I had a mindset coach myself, his name was David. He was there to guide me, and he made me realize that the discomfort feeling meant that I was stepping out of my comfort zone. Every time when you step outside of your norm and start doing something new, you will come face to face with this “imposter syndrome phenomenon.”

The imposter syndrome surfaced as an inner voice questioning my legitimacy as a coach, challenging my identity. However, I decided to persevere, acknowledging the discomfort and gradually embracing the role of a coach. And as I persisted through the discomfort, envisioning myself as a coach, and started to act like one, it began to feel more authentic and eventually I accepted that new version of me and showed up as the wealth mindset coach.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

I am a wealth mindset coach, International Keynote Speaker, and the visionary founder and CEO of The Opulent Academy. As a #1 International Best Selling Author and seasoned investor, I have dedicated my life to empowering fellow entrepreneurs to manifest their next level of wealth, purpose, and transformation.

Throughout my own personal development journey, I fearlessly challenged my own limitations, continuously stepping out of my comfort zone. I came face to face with my deepest fears such as walking on fire, swallowing fire, and leaping off a towering pole that rivaled a five-story building. In a truly exhilarating adventure, I even parachuted from an airplane. It was during these transformative experiences that I crossed paths with one of my earliest mentors, the late Bob Proctor, an esteemed figure renowned as the world’s foremost teacher on success and human potential.

I was able to achieved the status of Inner Circle Member in Bob Proctor’s consultancy, a remarkable accomplishment accomplished by only the top 1% of consultants worldwide. Over a span of 18 months under Bob’s guidance, I experienced my own quantum leap, catapulting my financial status from an annual six-figure income to a monthly windfall. I wanted to share with other people what I’ve experienced and show them how it’s possible for them as well, that’s when I founded The Opulent Academy—an exceptional mentorship organization where I share invaluable insights on tapping into one’s infinite potential, transforming self-images, and embarking on quantum leaps towards an opulent life.

The same year, I decided go to into speaking because of my desire to have a boarder reach and a bigger impact.  I hired myself a speaking coach and later was invited as a guest speaker on the renowned Amazon Prime TV show, “SpeakUP,” where I shared with the audience my own personal journey of what I would describe as “Quantum Leap”, which means an exponential growth within a short period of time, and how anybody can achieve quantum leap if they follow the same process.

I have written two collaboration books. My first book, “Asian Women Who Bossup,” passionately chronicles my upbringing as an Asian American woman overcoming obstacles, dismantling stereotypes, and defying societal expectations imposed upon me by my parents. I shared how to break free from self-imposed limits and embrace the limitless possibilities within each one of us. My second book, “Ignite Possibilities,” also a #1 Amazon Best Seller, poignantly shares my transformative journey of self-discovery and the realization of my intrinsic self-worth.  And regardless of what happened in the past, anybody can always create a new future starting at any given moment.

I recently made a life-altering decision to relocate to Dubai after residing in the United States for nearly three decades. I am excited to embark on the next phase of my life in a new city.  So stay tuned!

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
In my transformative journey, three pivotal elements stood out: open-mindedness, persistence, and the invaluable guidance of a mentor or coach who had already trodden the path.

Open-mindedness allowed me to embrace change and new ideas, essential in transitioning from a real estate agent to a mindset coach. It enabled me to adapt, learn, and evolve.

Persistence was the backbone of my journey; it propelled me forward through doubts and challenges, reminding me that growth requires tenacity and resilience.

Lastly, having a mentor or coach who had successfully navigated the same transition was a game-changer. They provided invaluable insights, shared shortcuts, and offered the encouragement needed to overcome imposter syndrome and believe in my abilities. Their mentorship was a beacon of wisdom and motivation, steering me toward success in my new venture.”

How would you describe your ideal client?
My ideal clients embody a spirit akin to my past self—individuals who possessed an inherent belief in their capacity to achieve greatness and refused to settle for the ordinary path dictated by societal norms. They recognized, just as I did, that they were destined for something more significant in this life.

Embracing a sense of uniqueness and purpose, they sought to transcend mediocrity. Like me, they were on a quest for answers and shortcuts, open-minded and hungry for personal growth and development. In the realm of personal development, they saw not only potential but a call to nurture that potential, unlocking the power within them to manifest extraordinary accomplishments.
