Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Ana Hernández García. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Ana, appreciate you making time for us and sharing your wisdom with the community. So many of us go through similar pain points throughout our journeys and so hearing about how others overcame obstacles can be helpful. One of those struggles is keeping creativity alive despite all the stresses, challenges and problems we might be dealing with. How do you keep your creativity alive?
I believe my creativity stays alive because my work is so much more than designing spaces. I feel a deep mission to connect with people and their stories, helping them find their place in the world through their own homes.
Studying each client and contributing to improving their lives through design is a constant source of excitement and motivation that drives me to keep creating every day.
I try to stay inspired by reading, exploring design magazines, discovering new artists, and, of course, traveling and experiencing new environments. Ibiza holds a very special place in my creative process—not just because it’s where I’ve grown professionally, but also because its landscapes, its light, and the vibrant life in its markets bring me a sense of calm, inspiration, and energy to keep innovating.
I also believe in the value of silence and taking moments to pause. Setting aside time for myself—whether through morning meditation or simply disconnecting from daily routines—is essential for letting the best ideas flow.
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
In Her, we say that we spaces that inspire and transform our clients’ routines. Let’s say that Her is the fusion of technique, sensitivity, and purpose. Behind brand is me, Ana Hernández García (architect), although the Her team also includes Blanca Francés, who has been part of the Her family a year now. Together, we manage to transform spaces into unique sanctuaries.
My design, deeply influenced by the 9 years I have lived and worked in Ibiza, seeks to capture the calm, light, and connection with nature that define the Mediterranean essence. From the Mediterranean landscapes of Ibiza to its vibrant life in every corner inspires our way of creating.
Each space I design aims inspire, connect, and nurture. Firmly believe that architecture has power to enhance our daily lives, influence our mood, and offer us a refuge that makes us feel good, at peace. My mission is to create homes that not only meet the functional needs of my clients but also reflect who they are, their stories, their passions, and what they wish to project in their everyday lives.
In the studio, we work on both residential and hospitality projects. We believe that, although the design protocols different, both spaces share a common purpose: to provide rest and well-being. For hotels, we design rooms that become memorable experiences; for residences, we translate that experience into the daily lives of those who them, creating homes that inspire and nurture.
While we have also worked on clothing stores and cafés (such as Fiveo and Fiveo Caffè), we are more interested in the sphere close to people, which allows us to deeply influence their lives, diving into their daily routines to improve them.
Ultimately, what drives me as a professional is the certainty that design has the power to change lives, offering people a place where they can feel good, at peace, and, above all, authentic.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
I believe it was a wise decision to let myself be guided by opportunities, those I liked the most but also those I liked the least. Not all of them were ideal, but they all have contributed to the existence of Her today. Furthermore, surrounding myself with good professionals all the time has helped me grow and learn.
I would certainly highlight two key points that have shaped my career. Firstly, the experience in Ibiza, where I have developed million-dollar projects and trained for many years with a feng shui master. This has made me very aware of the influence that spaces have on our lives (our relationships, our profession, our health). Secondly, the experience of designing interiors for large student residences.
To those who are starting their journey, I would say to face new challenges with courage and joy, to surround themselves with other professionals as it is always enriching, and to enjoy the process of professional growth along the way.
What was the most impactful thing your parents did for you?
I could highlight so many things that I think I’ll stick with the fact that I am grateful every day for having the parents I have. They take care of me every day, have given me unconditional support all the time, and have never doubted me. They have always encouraged me to give my all.
