Meet Andrea Mayard

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Andrea Mayard. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Andrea below.

Andrea, so many exciting things to discuss, we can’t wait. Thanks for joining us and we appreciate you sharing your wisdom with our readers. So, maybe we can start by discussing optimism and where your optimism comes from?

I believe that our cognitive habits, personal experiences, and gratitude have all shaped the optimist that I am today. I have always trusted that any situation can be turned around for the good if you are always on the lookout for opportunities.

As a natural go-getter, intuitively I always created positive cognitive habits like failing forward over and over which pushes you to let go of being perfect or boxing yourself in and allows your mind to stay fluid, creative. This fosters that optimistic side of not giving up until your effort meets your results. Adopting these daily mindset habits are an underrated tool that boosts your optimism and refarames any situation almost immediately. At least it does for me!

I’ve been blessed to have many seasoned experiences that offered me a unique perspective surrounding the idea of positivity and optimism. I grew up in an entrepreneurial family witnessing the ups and downs of entrepreneurship. I became a College athlete which paved the opportunity to be a part of a team with the same goal of overcoming challenges in order to win. That tenacity propelled me to stay within the fitness industry climbing the career ladder and becoming an entrepreneur myself. These seasons brought upon their own unique challenges which proved that with a lot of grit also comes grace and reward. Life always has a way of turning around in your favor if you believe that change holds value. Stay patient, work smarter not harder and you’ll see the optimism flow in.

Holding gratitude for each new day and opportunity that is around any corner helps shape our perspectives and influences our level of optimism. Having a sense of purpose, faith or belief in something higher than ourselves is a beautiful act of courage and shift of focus from what is lacking to what we are grateful to have.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

I have been an entrepreneur for 12 years now with a very seasoned past in reinventing my fitness business ( 3x! To be exact). I owned a brick and mortar fitness studio for 5 years and took a short 2 year break after having my second child. I restarted my fitness business inside my home garage and expanded it now to be inside another brick and mortar co partnering with another local fitness business.

I am now a single mom with a new passion to help others understand that making financial freedom for themselves is not as far-fetched or fearful as it can feel. I have exciting expansions happening very soon when I launch a digital marketing company that will help other single parents (male or female) or anyone looking to create a career for themselves grow an income online from anywhere. I have big plans for this expansion and hope you all will follow my journey.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

3 Skills I believe anyone needs to have when starting a new business or finding their career are these:

1. Relentless discipline. Life is challenging, ever changing and you have to develop discipline in your life so that mishaps or obstacles don’t derail your progress.

2. Joy. Practice joy in the form of gratitude, hobbies, prayer. Looking for something that sets your soul at ease or allows for inner creativity is key to remaining YOU.

3. Never ending curiosity. Never stop learning something new. Hunger to know how things work, feel, look will help launch you towards new skills, passions and maybe even income streams.

All the wisdom you’ve shared today is sincerely appreciated. Before we go, can you tell us about the main challenge you are currently facing?

My number one challenge now is time management while being a single parent and business owner of two companies. I will overcome this through relentless discipline and dedication to my “why” and through time blocking, not forgetting to add a self cafe in the mix!
