We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Andrea Salazar a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Andrea, so great to be with you and I think a lot of folks are going to benefit from hearing your story and lessons and wisdom. Imposter Syndrome is something that we know how words to describe, but it’s something that has held people back forever and so we’re really interested to hear about your story and how you overcame imposter syndrome.
The key to overcoming imposter syndrome lies in gratitude. Simply taking a moment to reflect on how far you’ve come from where you once prayed to be. Once you realize how far you’ve come, it’s hard to have imposter syndrome. It’s a journey of self-awareness and self-acceptance. You also need to embrace the mindset of continuous learning and growth. As entrepreneurs, there is always room for growth and progress.

At Kagomes Krystals, my mission is to curate a vibrant collection of genuine crystals sourced from around the globe. What excites me most about my brand is the opportunity to share the profound beauty and spiritual benefits of crystals with our community. Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

Resilience, creativity, faith, and drive—these are the qualities and skills that have been most impactful for me on this journey. I’ve always been super resilient, even as a kid, so I knew being an entrepreneur—no matter the business—was for me. I’ve always had a creative streak, and I knew one day I’d use my creativity one way or another. Faith is crucial because you have to believe in yourself to be able to do anything on your own, especially starting a business. Lastly, drive is essential; you have to be hungry. Hungry to start, keep going, and be the best you can be.

What was the most impactful thing your parents did for you?

The most impactful lesson my parents taught me was resilience. Despite life’s challenges, they always managed to forge ahead. My father, especially, showed incredible strength after we lost my mother when I was just 9 years old. Witnessing his resilience and determination to push forward, even in the darkest times, left an indelible mark on me. My mother’s courageous battle with cancer until her last breath instilled in me the belief to never give up.

Entrepreneurship, I’ve come to realize, shares similarities with parenthood. Your business becomes your baby, nurtured from its infancy. You witness its growth, navigate through highs and lows, and persevere through failures. Yet, through dedication and care, you see it flourish, bringing immense joy and fulfillment. It’s a journey filled with challenges, but the rewards of seeing your vision come to life make every hurdle worthwhile.
