We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Angel Trejo a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Angel, so great to have you on the platform. There’s so much we want to ask you, but let’s start with the topic of self-care. Do you do anything for self-care and if so, do you think it’s had a meaningful impact on your effectiveness?
Self care is one of the biggest game changers for entrepreneurs. For me I am a firm believer in daily physical movement and getting an ample amount of sleep. Just these two things will give you such a strong foundation to perform at a high level for the day. Focusing on self care first and doing the inner work will in return help the environment around you. You’ll also start to attract the people that are also building/built healthy habits which will help elevate yourself to a new level of effectiveness! Some other self-care acts would be meditating, reading, breathing through nose, eating healthy, and alcohol consumption to a minimum. Adding these on top of the first two are ideal and will allow you to have a lot of clarity within yourself.
Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
When I got my first camera when I was 14 years old, I immediately began snapping pictures. Since then, the camera has helped me build many businesses, forge strong relationships, travel the world, and much more. I first took pictures and videos for pleasure before learning that I could make a living doing what I love. Businesses began making me offers to join them and assist in giving their content a new feel. My style, which I’ve been honing over the years, has helped me land jobs and projects I never would have imagined. 400+ events covered over the course of several years in the business. With this understanding, I made the decision to launch a production company in that vein, teaming up with successful Inland Empire entrepreneurs and businesses.
In the last two years of my business I’ve started implementing a new strategy and placing a lot of emphasis internally. One of the main foundations of my career is self growth, which has raised my level of performance and thought. This has been made possible by the opportunity to learn from numerous outstanding thought leaders in this field, including Tim Storey, John Maxwell, Patrick Bet-David, Ed Mylett, and countless more.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Leadership, relationship building, and self improvement. With anyone trying to enter the world of business in any area, these are the top three things I emphasize. The higher caliber people you attract, the better inside you are. You will have access to better opportunities the stronger your relationship-building skills are. Working on your leadership skills is finally vital to grow your business into A BUSINESS. Task delegation, building to sell, sales, selling your vision, marketing, and employing the proper people are a few examples. Last thing to add is if you make people feel good about working with you this will take you very far.
Before we go, maybe you can tell us a bit about your parents and what you feel was the most impactful thing they did for you?
My parents’ advice to me to “never settle” and “never say the word can’t” had the biggest impact on me.
I’ve been reminded of these lessons recently, and they’ve been ringing in my head ever since. These two words are what motivate me each day to work toward my lifelong objective of ensuring my family’s financial security for future generations.
