We were lucky to catch up with Angellic Richardson recently and have shared our conversation below.
Angellic, thank you so much for taking the time to share your lessons learned with us and we’re sure your wisdom will help many. So, one question that comes up often and that we’re hoping you can shed some light on is keeping creativity alive over long stretches – how do you keep your creativity alive?
I keep my creativity alive by following inspirational people & pages on social media. Those who think outside the box, aren’t scared to take chances, want to be set apart. Sometimes I have my own creativity block, something like writers block. All I have to do is scroll my timeline & get some of that spark back!
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I am a hairstylist, specializing in Silk Press, Hair Color & Tape-In Extensions on natural hair. I’ve been licensed for 6 years. Hair Coloring is my absolute favorite thing to do. To take someone & completely transform them & give them an extra boost of confidence makes it all worth while. I also teach my Silk Pressing technique to other licensed stylists & that always feels amazing. To help other stylists grow in their skill!
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
The qualities, skills & knowledge that help me are being CONSISTENT, HARD WORKING, & always being a STUDENT!! You can’t have the mindset of being a know it all. We are all students, everyday. Every day is a new lesson.
What has been your biggest area of growth or improvement in the past 12 months?
My biggest area of growth or improvement these last few months, have to be me setting BOUNDARIES! Most of my life, I’ve let people walk over me. Most of my career I’ve done the same & people didn’t take my business serious. Now, I am STERN but FAIR. Those who patronize me for the most part, respect my business to the fullest. All because I was brave enough to set boundaries & say “NO”.
