We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Anisa Turner . We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Anisa below.
To be completely honest I never knew my purpose. I just knew I like helping people. I knew I had a big heart. I knew how to love. Everything I did always involved helping people. From daycare, to my nursing background, my customer care specialist career and now my role in the music industry. Everything has been centered around helping others. That’s how I found my purpose. I believe God put me here to help people.
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I started out as a Talent Manager. Artists would gravitate to me and always wanted my help. Now I believe I can call myself an upcoming A&R Executive. I am the missing piece for a lot of artists and labels as well, they might not know that yet but I am.
I started with a-lot of artists. Now I have 2 that I am hands on with daily. The rest come to me if they need some guidance.
I do a-lot! When I’m not managing and being and A&R, well I’m still being an A&R but more so in a different light. I started a blog which will soon be a podcast called “On the Rocks with Ace”. It’s doing great! I interview artists, DJs, Engineers, Producers, Managers, anything in the music industry that help artists get to the next level or play a big part, I love On the Rocks. It’s so me! If you pay close attention, you will start to learn a lot about me just from that.
I’ve started a foundation for single parents called OTR which is On the Rocks Foundation. Each month my goal is to bless parents in need with pampers and wipes. It’s been times I needed but didn’t ask so I know the feelings. It’s a pride thing so I figured I’ve be that safe haven for some. And the first month was a success! I hope to keep going.
I also do tours as well, I have Fredo Bang tour coming up and 5 others. So, anyone interested in touring contact me!
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
For me trustworthy, loyalty, and ambition.
Honestly, you have to stay prayed up. People are always waiting for you to fall or even trip. Trust your instincts. Stay true to yourself, your passion, what you love to do! Loyalty speaks volumes. But most importantly never lose your ambition. Keep fighting. No matter who supports or doesn’t support you. Trust me people are watching. Never stop.
Looking back over the past 12 months or so, what do you think has been your biggest area of improvement or growth?
Patience.
Whew man oh man. I’ve had to learn patience is the key. I’m such a futuristic person. I’m always thinking of ways to get to the next level. I literally live in the future, but God sat me down this year. He forced me to open my eyes and see my reality. I can’t live in the future if I can’t make it through reality first. So, I’ve learned to stop trying to speed the process up and just have patience and go with the flow. Move by faith not by sight.
