Meet Anna Gygi

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Anna Gygi. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Anna, appreciate you making time for us and sharing your wisdom with the community. So many of us go through similar pain points throughout our journeys and so hearing about how others overcame obstacles can be helpful. One of those struggles is keeping creativity alive despite all the stresses, challenges and problems we might be dealing with. How do you keep your creativity alive?
Keeping creativity alive is one of the hardest but easiest challenges when it comes to makeup. Sometimes it sparks on its own, from a random object or thought. A lot of the times thought it come from others, where trends come into play. In the lowest moments of not feeling creative enough and having no spark looking into what’s fun and trendy. Recreating others looks (with credit of course). There’s so many talented artists, on Instagram, TikTok, Pinterest, that all share their art. Not even just makeup creators, all forms of creative personal.

Finding a wallpaper you like, inspired by your favorite movie series, book covers, random household objects. The list goes on and on. Just taking a deep breath, refocusing on your passions and goals, and appreciating what’s around you helps massively.

All in all others are my biggest source of helping me keep creativity alive. Asking for emojis to make that into a makeup look, recreating others looks with my own twist (again still crediting them for inspiration), asking friends and family to help me put together looks.

There’s so many creative minds in this world so pulling together makes it even better. Coming up with ideas you never thought even possible.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
Hi, so I’m a personal makeup artist! Meaning I don’t do others makeup I only do my own. Which I share that with my online following!

Makeup and art in general has always been a passion of mine. As a child I drew sketches of designs and as I got older those sketches and designs I drew on my face instead. Right before the lockdown in 2020 I was actually looking into being a freelance artist. Well that didn’t happen and with all my time at home I got even into more creative looks.

Starting out with bright and colorful eyeshadow looks and doing tutorials on YouTube. That shifted into full face colorful makeup and switching to Instagram and TikTok instead of YouTube. Now doing absolutely full face transformations in my spare time.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Knowing everyone starts off not knowing at first. For me I started out watching a lot of videos on YouTube of experienced makeup artists who showed all the tips and tricks to help you be the best. Knowing that years ago they started off where I was too made the difference. They didn’t become perfect at their skill overnight and neither did I. So dedication, patience, and never giving up. Those are so important. It’s a never ending road with some rocky roads and beautiful scenes.

What is the number one obstacle or challenge you are currently facing and what are you doing to try to resolve or overcome this challenge?
So as silly as this sounds getting frustrated at myself that I’m not getting enough “likes” on my content! Which as a social media content creator that’s what you do. You look at your analytics and see what it shows you. Some days it’s all positive and others it’s in the negatives. Which in analytics terms means “you’re not doing good enough.” Honestly that can be really hard and puts pressure on yourself.

What I have been doing to remind myself that I don’t need the validation of some analytic chart to tell me I’m good enough is. Looking at those numbers and realistically thinking if that many people came up to me and complimented me I would be overwhelmed!! It’s so easy to see a number online and think “wow that’s not a lot” but in real life if a 100 people came up to you, that would be overwhelming!!

So it’s a good perspective if you ever feel “not good enough” from some social medias likes and analytics system.
