We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Antinese Stinson a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Antinese, so great to be with you and I think a lot of folks are going to benefit from hearing your story and lessons and wisdom. Imposter Syndrome is something that we know how words to describe, but it’s something that has held people back forever and so we’re really interested to hear about your story and how you overcame imposter syndrome.
I overcome imposter syndrome with slot of prayer. By always working on my mindset, I speak positivity in my life and surround myself with people that speak life over me. I always have people that encourage me to strive to be a better woman.
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
I am an esthetician that specializes in corrective skincare for ethnic skin types. What I love most about what I do is changing lives. Clients come in having low self esteem about their skin and once they leave they feel good about themselves. I love what I do and if I could I would do it for free. I have been an esthetician for 9 years and a business owner for 5 years. I’m changing lives and helping people one day at a time.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
My advice for people that’s starting out early in this journey is to be resilient. Never give up even when you’re feeling low and don’t know what to do. Stay a STUDENT. Always be willing to learn and try new things. Continue to grasp new concepts of different things. Also, continue to have an open mind.
Before we go, any advice you can share with people who are feeling overwhelmed?
When I feel overwhelmed I take a minute to write down everything that I need to do. I make a list on what’s important to least important then start working on them. I also take a minute to reflect on what I have accomplished thus far in my life. I remind myself to pace what I’m doing. Not to fast not too slow but one step at a time.
