Meet Anylah Taft

We recently connected with Anylah Taft and have shared our conversation below.

Anylah, looking forward to learning from your journey. You’ve got an amazing story and before we dive into that, let’s start with an important building block. Where do you get your work ethic from?
My work ethic is a collaboration of both of my parents. They displayed to me the components of what hard work, disciple, and determination looks like.

My mother came from a very strict upper class family in Bangkok, Thailand. She was born in the United States however grew up back in Bangkok for the majority of her life. At the age of 16 she returned to the US to finish high school and begin her collegiate education. The unexpected birth of me at the age of 20 shifted my families opinion of my mother’s future life and career trajectory. Despite the backlash given, my mother took lemons and made lemonade. She is the definition of independent, and has always displayed hard work through her self reliance and perseverance.

My father, native of Compton, CA is where I get my grit. Raised in the intercity, life became an adventure of survival of the fittest. Enduring and overcoming adversity is what has shaped his hustle mentality, strength, and no nonsense approach to life and entrepreneurship. His real estate development and investing is where my idea of ‘Invest with TAFT’ was created. My father is more than just Dad to me; he is my mentor, my life coach, and my business partner gifted in one.

I am forever grateful for the influence of both of my parents. The blend of independence learned from my mother and the resilience taught by my father, fuels my pursuit of knowledge regardless of my level of comfort. This drive is aimed at creating the healthy, peaceful, and prosperous life I envisioned for myself.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
I’m Anylah Taft, founder & CEO of InvestWithTAFT. I am a realtor and a travel notary public signing agent servicing the Los Angeles/Orange/Riverside/San Bernardino/San Diego counties. InvestWithTAFT (IWT) is a company I established in April 2022. The vision is to help guide individuals who are interested in purchasing or selling real estate, and those interested in building their investment portfolio. Although, IWT was created in 2022 I began my real estate career in 2018 when I started my notary business. During 2020-2021 I was ranked the top notary in Southern California averaging 50-85 completed signings per month! In 2022 my notary business took a major hit in a downward spiral due to the rise of interest rates and inflation. This gave me the opportunity to focus on birthing IWT.

IWT has really hit the ground running and we are grateful for the traction we have acquired in such a short period of time. We currently have a couple live projects in development. The first is adding an Additional Dwelling Unit (ADU): 2 Story 2 bed 1 bath / 1 bed 1 bath to our Long Beach investment property. The second project is a complete 360 renovation to our investment property located in Compton. What is most exciting about what I do is being able to educate my clients on how real estate equates to generational wealth. Overall a big part of business is relationships, being able to share what I do for living by adding value to people’s lives is what I find joy in. I look forward to helping my clients build a foundation that will continue to strengthen their future lineage.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Passion, confidence, & competency are three essential qualities that have impacted my journey tremendously.

Passion is important because it’s what fuels my drive and motivation. It encourages me to be a dreamer. You can often hear the passion when a person speaks, because it’s in you and is what will keep us pushing, pulling, and climbing the ladder of success.

Confidence, is honestly the most important of the three qualities. Becoming a dreamer is only the beginning; I must then become a doer. In order to get things done I have to have the gut feeling that this is apart of my purpose and destiny. Confidence is what fuels my faith.

Competency is the ability to get things done efficiently which is a vital key in life. Efficiency not only gets things done, but without wasting time or energy. This allows me to see progression in the early stages of creating and building my brand. Once I see things are moving it gives me the gratification that inspires me to keep going.

My cherry on top quality/skill, is the ability to always be honest-to-goodness. I believe being real, genuine, and intentional will cultivate trust and credibility in InvestWithTAFT.

Is there a particular challenge you are currently facing?
Analysis paralysis is currently my number one obstacle without hesitation of thought. I have the type of personality that once I’m committed to something, committing time and energy, I become a perfectionist. I want to ensure everything is initially perfect, and that can cause complacency and stagnation in business. I also become overwhelmed because the pressure of absolute perfection begins to weigh heavy. What has helped me overcome this is having a strong team that reminds me that “Rome wasn’t built in a day” and that greatness takes time. I have special people who are apart of my team who I affectionately call my ‘Anchors’. These individuals are the ones that keep me grounded, reassures, and encourages me to complete projects, and adjust if necessary. Analysis paralysis is something that I believe many may suffer with. I will continue to conquer this obstacle because I can’t be the worlds best real estate professional if I don’t ever go live!
