We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Aria Thome a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Aria, we’re so appreciative of you taking the time to share your nuggets of wisdom with our community. One of the topics we think is most important for folks looking to level up their lives is building up their self-confidence and self-esteem. Can you share how you developed your confidence?
I developed my confidence and self-esteem in sound healing by following intuition. You could also call in Spirit/Divine/Universal Consciousness. Either way, when I followed those mystical nudges, I found the words I spoke, the instruments I played, and the order I played those instruments in always tended to flow so smoothly. Over time, I found that those were always the most effective sessions. That boosted my confidence to keep following Source.
Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
I am a choir director turned sound healer. It was through the sacred portal of Gregorian Chant and exploration into their healing qualities and abilities that I became interested in the human voice and its healing potential. Harnessing the power of the voice as I came to know other chants from other healing traditions, I became even further aware as I used the voice for these healing purposes.
Upon moving from Arizona to Missouri, I became certified as a sound healing practitioner as soon as I could. By this time, I had become aware of the immense healing abilities of Tibetan bowls, shamanic drumming, and more. Not only learning of the instruments, but knowing the science behind the phenomenon.
Currently, besides one to one sessions, I love collaborating with different practitioners. I love to pair with breath-workers, reiki healers. other tuning fork practitioners, as well as other gong practitioners. When the proper intention is held, these events become transformative.
At this time, as I offer training in the voice, the voice (with the drum) have been consuming my energies in the best imaginable ways possible 🙂
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Allowing – Allow for the process of becoming, in whatever field you have embarked upon. There is a natural timing and rhythm that once I allowed myself to settle into, learning was just like floating. Find that spot where learning isn’t incessant, but rather a nice slow bake, allowing the flavors of the knowledge to settle. Drag not, however. Knowledge builds upon itself and as continuous and seamless the process, the sturdier the entire infrastructure.
Curious – Be ever curious. Follow your bliss, as Jung might say. I was curious about shamanism, and the next thing I found I was gifted close to sixty drums, became certified in leading circles, and then have been helping mental health patients and people with various additions learn self confidence, the power of community, and dancing with creativity while easing anxiety. You never know, but will be joyfully surprised if you follow your curiosity.
Patient – You will be able to follow your intuition. You will hear the difference in the tuning fork as it reads energy. You will be able to see the auras. You will be able to feel the energy with your hands. You will be an instrument of peace and flow. Whatever practice, whatever modality, give it time – The healer is within you and they will come out. I promise.
How would you spend the next decade if you somehow knew that it was your last?
If I were to pick a challenge at the moment it would be self promotion. I have never been one to be in the spotlight, but sometimes you have to put the light on yourself to be seen. Facebook and Instagram, as I sometimes frustratingly utilized, eventually started to work for me. Utilize places like skillshare or Udemy. There a relatively inexpensive ways that will eventually save you time so you do not have spend so much time doing something that intimidates you. You can spend more time doing what you love: being a conduit of healing.
