Meet Arianna Barton

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Arianna Barton. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Arianna below.

Arianna , first a big thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts and insights with us today. I’m sure many of our readers will benefit from your wisdom, and one of the areas where we think your insight might be most helpful is related to imposter syndrome. Imposter syndrome is holding so many people back from reaching their true and highest potential and so we’d love to hear about your journey and how you overcame imposter syndrome.
I have just recently learned the meaning of “imposter syndrome.” I have definitely always struggled with the feelings of it but never knew that those feelings had a name. I can’t say that I have fully overcome imposter syndrome but I take steps all the time to help over come it, along with the help of an amazing support system! Being a singer/songwriter is a very fun yet taxing endeavor. You have to be vulnerable, but tough at the same time.
I’ve always felt like I wasnt good enough, or didn’t deserve the success, especially this past year while fundraising for an album. However, I was shown differently! I still struggle day to day, but seeing how many people (some whom I’ve never met) donate towards one of my dreams really helped to put into perspective what I’m capable of. It also helps that I have friends and family who support me as well as to “burst” the negative bubble above my head sometimes.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
My name is Arianna Barton, I am a singer songwriter based out of Southern Indiana. My writing and music style varies from country to light pop. I just released my first original album in october 2023 called “Stronger” which is available on all streaming sites. I would say I officially started writing songs when I was 16 years old after teaching myself how to play guitar. I performed with the band “The Strings of Indian Creek” for 11 years as well as recording 3 albums with them. I am currently blessed with a back up band as of 2022 called “The Bourbon Britches” which is an all female backing band which consists of Anna Blanton (Fiddle) and Kelsey Lee (Drums) but we are hopefully adding a bassist soon! The “Britches” and I have alot of exciting shows coming up in 2024.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Three qualities, skills or areas of knowledge I think have been most impactful in my journey…. I would have to say
1.) Always stay humble! (But don’t let the imposter syndrome rule).
2.) Jump! It’s always scary to try new things, but once you do you can learn so much, meet new people, and it’s not as scary the next time! Trust me!
3.) Don’t be afraid to fail. ..
This one kind of goes with #2. I’ve always been a perfectionist, but here lately I’ve been trying to let that perfectionism go a bit. Practice makes perfect is a long time saying, but sometimes you just have to “do it!” It will not be even close to perfect, but once you have some screw ups and get used to it you will do even better. Sounds crazy I know, but it works!

Looking back over the past 12 months or so, what do you think has been your biggest area of improvement or growth?
My biggest area of growth in the last 12 months has been my stage presence and confidence. I owe alot of that to my backing band for pushing me to another level and believing in me. Being an introvert by nature makes it hard on stage as a “front woman” but I’m learning each and every show! I am actually very proud of myself having gone from never talking on stage to being the front woman doing all the talking!
