We recently connected with Art Pineda and have shared our conversation below.
Art, we’re so excited for our community to get to know you and learn from your journey and the wisdom you’ve acquired over time. Let’s kick things off with a discussion on self-confidence and self-esteem. How did you develop yours?
I think always having a close friend group that always encourage and support me. There could be many things but I think that’s one of the biggest ones.
Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
I started DJing in high school and fell in love with it. Always DJ’d friends parties and as I got older I realized that all the DJs I loved were playing these huge festivals because of the music they made. So I followed their footsteps and started teaching myself how to produce music. Really just did it because I love doing both of them. I love getting a crowd dancing and seeing them have a good time. And it’s crazier to see when it’s to a song you made. During the lockdown I started getting support from some pretty big DJ’s that I look up to, so now I’m really taking it full swing. Now my goals to reach all the real house music fans that have never heard of me.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
I think being able to teach yourself how to do something is one of the most powerful skills someone can possess. Just you and a YouTube video. Second, adapting to today’s marketing. Being aware of where you can reach the biggest audience and how to go about making content. And lastly, networking. You see so many people getting these huge opportunities and wonder “how the hell did they get that”. And it just goes back to that old saying, “it’s not what you know, it’s who you know”
Alright, so before we go we want to ask you to take a moment to reflect and share what you think you would do if you somehow knew you only had a decade of life left?
I think just being able to reach that mass audience. Trying to be better about posting content more consistently, but it’s extremely difficult, especially with an insanely saturated market.
