Meet Aryana Hamzehloo

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Aryana Hamzehloo. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Aryana below.

Alright, so we’re so thrilled to have Aryana with us today – welcome and maybe we can jump right into it with a question about one of your qualities that we most admire. How did you develop your work ethic? Where do you think you get it from?
I get my work ethic from my parents. My mother is an immigrant from the Philippines and my father is an immigrant from Iran, and their struggles, perseverance and determination coming to America has taught me a lot about work ethic and why it is important. With everything I’ve wanted in life, they’ve supported me by encouraging me to believe in myself and to work extremely hard. They’ve taught me that I can achieve my goals as long as I have the resilience to overcome the challenges and obstacles that may come my way. The lessons I’ve received from them are invaluable and a big reason why I’ve seen success in my career so far.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
I am an actress and entrepreneur. I started acting in elementary school and knew I wanted to pursue it professionally when I graduated college. I believe that art can create more empathy in the world, and as an actress I get to live different walks of life. I get to put myself in someone’s (a character’s) shoes, and justify and understand what it means to be a human being. I love that art helps people feel less alone and feel seen. This is the foundation of my journey pursuing an artistic career. The majority of my work is in television, film, web series, music videos and theater. (You can see me in a few projects such as Grown-ish, CSI: Vegas, Last Call, and The Poly Couple). In addition, I’ve created my self-made fitness business, Body By Aryana, where I help actors/performers excel in their craft using the benefits of physical exercise and nutrition.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
The three qualities that are most impactful in my journey are 1) resilience 2) discipline and 3) purpose. I think resilience and discipline comes from how much you “protect your purpose.” To me, this means understanding and knowing what you were put on this Earth to do, and doing everything in your power to be successful in your pursuit. When you truly care about your purpose and when you care about making an impact to serve others, your resilience and discipline carry you when times are tough. Anything worth having is hard, but those qualities have served me when really difficult challenges have happened.

Thanks so much for sharing all these insights with us today. Before we go, is there a book that’s played in important role in your development?
The Success Principles by Jack Canfield is one of my favorite self-development books. It is for anyone who is ambitious, driven and determined to achieve their goals. There is a huge amount of valuable guidance in that book, but the most impactful nuggets of wisdom to me are 1) “believe in yourself”, 2) “transform your inner critic into an inner coach”, and 3) commit to constant and never-ending improvement. All of these concepts are based upon a foundation of self-love and self-empowerment. All of the insight in this book is meant to help you transform your life. I believe everyone should take the time to read it.
