Meet Ashlie Williams

We were lucky to catch up with Ashlie Williams recently and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Ashlie, we’re so appreciative of you taking the time to share your nuggets of wisdom with our community. One of the topics we think is most important for folks looking to level up their lives is building up their self-confidence and self-esteem. Can you share how you developed your confidence?
Growing up and throughout my college years, I never had a practice of building my own confidence and self esteem. I grew up in a household where my parents believed in me to the highest extent. Subconsciously, I relied on my educational pursuits, career achievements and connection to others as my source of confidence and esteem.

It was not until recently that I discovered my confidence is at its strongest when its rooted in what God is doing in my life. One of the most challenging moments of my life came when my business had made the most money in 15 years and my mom was simultaneously on her death bed. In the midst of negotiations and dealing with attorneys, I was running in and out of the hospital room to check in on my mom. Even in her final days, I could feel her pushing me to keep going.

When I look back over all my challenges – those insurmountable odds – I was never the source of the success. The victory is truly because of how God miraculously has showed his sovereignty and divine plan.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
My entire life I have always been well connected. It may be because I bloom from the city of Angels – where celebrities are the norm. I grew up hearing stories about my uncle interviewing Mariah Carey, Bill Cosby – and so many greats. That background pushed me to the world of entertainment where I have worn a variety of hats. Most people come to me when they need to hire talent or to secure funds for a film or event. Others may come to me to even to plan their events, make introductions that amplify their goals, or simply manage a project.

I consider myself a marketing maven and an influencer’s influencer.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Time is flying and has definitely changed since I graduated Howard University in 2010. I would encourage others to obtain a tangible skill set (trading, web dev/design) and keep up with technology. AI will change everything very soon, but at the core you really only need to be good to others and the rest will follow.

As we end our chat, is there a book you can leave people with that’s been meaningful to you and your development?
I love love love the Power of Now. It’s a life changing book and one you should probably peak at daily. Learning how to be present in the moment makes you emotionally available, a better communicator, and more at peace. Remind yourself that your thoughts are not who you are good or bad. They are just that, thoughts.
