Meet Ashlyn Baker

We recently connected with Ashlyn Baker and have shared our conversation below.

Ashlyn, first a big thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts and insights with us today. I’m sure many of our readers will benefit from your wisdom, and one of the areas where we think your insight might be most helpful is related to imposter syndrome. Imposter syndrome is holding so many people back from reaching their true and highest potential and so we’d love to hear about your journey and how you overcame imposter syndrome.
If I’m being honest. This is still something I struggle with on a daily. The feeling of inadequacy seems to be at the forefront of most opportunities that are presented to me. It’s just so important to remember “it wouldn’t be given to you if you weren’t capable”. This is what pushes me forward.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I’m truly a Jack of all trades but at this moment, I identify as a freelance makeup artist, content creator, model and thrift shopper. Makeup has always been a love of mine. the most rewarding aspect has to be making my clients happy. Content creation and thrifting is the opposite being I get so much instant gratification and excitement from creating videos and finding pieces. I recently started vending at local pop ups but plan on moving my inventory online to create a space where everyone can shop my finds. Modeling has been something pretty new but I’ve always had a love for it. Im exploring this venture now by working with local designers on shoots and fashion shows

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Learning Patience, resilience and gratitude HAS been the most impactful aspects of my journey. The world we live in is moving so fast, and as creators we want things to happen immediately like sold out products or shows, 1 million likes on our music or videos etc. and I had to quickly learn it’s all in Gods timing. With that being said when things tended not to go my way, it was immensely hard not to give up but when you are blessed with such talents it’s SO important to share them with your community. that’s what kept me going. I have to always remind myself, even when I’m not in the space I want to be in it’s so important to appreciate where you are because it’s about the journey rather than the destination.

If you knew you only had a decade of life left, how would you spend that decade?
If I’m being honest, I would just do the things I love. All the things I’ve mentioned before for example and spending time with my soul tribe. I would want to travel the world, submerge myself in different cultures. I would love Get to know myself to a higher extent just to have the best experience out of live and to develop a deeper understanding and what all this is for.
