Alright, so we’re so thrilled to have Asill with us today – welcome and maybe we can jump right into it with a question about one of your qualities that we most admire. How did you develop your work ethic? Where do you think you get it from?
My work ethic is derived from a combination of personal values, experiences, and inspirations. As an artist, I am fueled by my deep passion for creating visually stunning and impactful artwork. However, it is not just the love for my craft that drives my work ethic.
First and foremost, I believe in the importance of discipline and professionalism. I hold myself to high standards and strive for excellence in every project I undertake. This mindset pushes me to consistently deliver quality work and meet or exceed client expectations.
I find that setting clear goals and maintaining a structured work schedule helps me stay focused and productive. I understand the importance of time management and prioritize tasks efficiently to ensure timely delivery without compromising on quality.
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I go by Axill TNT, and I am a digital artist based in Libya, North Africa. My journey as an artist began with a deep passion for video games and their captivating visuals. Despite the challenges and limited opportunities in my home country, I was determined to pursue a career in the gaming industry.
With no prior experience or formal training, I embarked on a self-taught journey. I immersed myself in video game design and rendering software, and spent countless hours watching art tutorials on YouTube. This relentless pursuit of knowledge and skills allowed me to develop my artistic abilities from scratch.
Despite the skepticism and doubts from friends and family, I persevered. Eventually, my dedication paid off when I landed a job as a concept artist and character artist at a gaming studio in Canada called VOLTA, part of Keywords Studios. This opportunity opened doors for me to work on exciting projects remotely, including my role as a VFX artist on the Hollywood film “Wetiko.”
Since then, I have continued to work with various video game studios as a freelancer, all while remaining in my home country. This remote work setup has allowed me to showcase my talent globally and contribute to projects from the comfort of my own studio.
What excites me most about my work is the ability to bring ideas to life and create immersive experiences for audiences. The world of digital art allows me to blend my imagination, technical skills, and storytelling abilities to craft visually stunning and impactful artwork.
In terms of my brand, I go by the name Axill TNT online. I strive to build a strong online presence and engage with a community of like-minded individuals who share my passion for art and gaming. Through my social media platforms and website, I showcase my portfolio, share my creative process, and provide insights into the world of digital art.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Reflecting on my journey as an artist, three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge have had a profound impact on my growth and success. These qualities are perseverance, continuous learning, and effective networking.
Firstly, perseverance has been instrumental in overcoming the inevitable challenges and setbacks that come with any creative pursuit. The path of a 3D artist is not always smooth, and there are times when self-doubt and frustration can set in. However, by cultivating perseverance, I have learned to embrace failure as a stepping stone to improvement. My advice to those starting their journey is to develop a resilient mindset and keep pushing forward, even in the face of obstacles. Embrace challenges as opportunities for growth and view each setback as a chance to learn and improve.
Secondly, continuous learning is crucial in the ever-evolving field of Digital art. To stay relevant and competitive, it’s important to stay updated with the latest software, techniques, and industry trends. Throughout my journey, I have dedicated time to self-education through online tutorials, workshops, and studying the works of other artists. I encourage aspiring artists to prioritize learning and take advantage of the vast resources available today. Experiment, explore different styles, and never stop seeking knowledge. Embrace a growth mindset and view learning as a lifelong journey.
My advice to those starting their journey is to actively seek out networking opportunities and invest time in building relationships with fellow artists, industry professionals, and potential mentors. Participate in online communities, share your work, and engage in constructive conversations. Collaboration and support from others can accelerate your growth and provide valuable insights along the way.
Before we go, maybe you can tell us a bit about your parents and what you feel was the most impactful thing they did for you?
The most impactful thing my family did for me was instilling in me the value of education and nurturing a supportive and loving environment.
From a young age, my parents emphasized the importance of education and encouraged me to pursue my academic interests. They provided resources, guidance, and unwavering support throughout my educational journey. Their belief in the power of learning motivated me to strive for excellence and gave me the confidence to pursue my passions.
my parents created a nurturing and loving environment at home. They fostered an atmosphere of trust, open communication, and unconditional love, which allowed me to freely explore my interests.
I am deeply grateful for the love, guidance, and values my family have provided me. Their impact on shaping my character, mindset, and outlook on life has been immeasurable. I carry their lessons and values with me in everything I do, and I strive to make them proud through my achievements and the way I navigate the world.
