Meet Aubrey Williams

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Aubrey Williams. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Aubrey, appreciate you making time for us and sharing your wisdom with the community. So many of us go through similar pain points throughout our journeys and so hearing about how others overcame obstacles can be helpful. One of those struggles is keeping creativity alive despite all the stresses, challenges and problems we might be dealing with. How do you keep your creativity alive?
Keeping my creativity alive is a challenge amid the busy season. It can be really hard to take the time to plan creative shoots when my schedule is full of clients. I like to use a weekday that isn’t as popular, maybe a Monday, and plan something fun to shoot with models. It is important to do creative photoshoots to help relieve burnout and keep things interesting! Additionally, it is always good for business to have some fun creative photos in my portfolio. If I don’t have the time to plan something, I try to attend styled shoots or content days as well.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
I have been a professional photographer for seven years! Recently in 2023, I have made the switch to just focusing on couples and weddings. Before this switch, I did a little bit of everything: Families, weddings, newborns, maternity, etc. I am excited for this new phase in my business journey, I have always loved photographing couples the most. There is something so special about being able to capture love.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Looking back, three qualities that were very impactful on my journey are perseverance, adaptability, and drive. When you are an entrepreneur, you are going to have years that go really well for you and years that go really bad. It is important to keep going, even after the bad years. Beyond that, it is important to find out what went wrong. Industries, especially the photography industry, are always changing. I am constantly trying to keep up with new trends and ideas. When I have it all figured out, new things arise.

Tell us what your ideal client would be like?
My ideal client is a couple that is about to get engaged or that just got engaged. If they have their wedding date picked, then I can start the photography process with them. All of my wedding packages come with a complimentary engagement and bridal session. So, if someone books me for their wedding date, then I can start taking their photos leading up to the big day. It doesn’t matter if you have your schedule for the day laid out yet, I love to help my couple’s wedding plan as well. Since I have photographed a lot of weddings, I know how long things take and the best order to do them.
