We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Azia Whitted. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Azia below.
Hi Azia, so happy to have you on the platform and I think our readers are in for a treat because you’ve got such an interesting story and so much insight and wisdom. So, let’s start with a topic that is relevant to everyone, regardless of industry etc. What do you do for self-care and how has it impacted you?
I have learned the power of my PAUSE! I first discovered how a pause could go a long way in parenting . By stopping to evaluate my reactions and my words to create better relationships. But over the course of the last 2 years; life has taught me that my pause is a lifestyle. As someone who loves to do all the thing and who often is taking care of her family, business, and everyone else- I came to place where I felt depleted. I started to incorporate more mindfulness into my daily life and use a pause to reset and refuel. It was a game changer. And now I help other moms balance their chaos with calm.
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
I am a woman on a mission to impact families by sharing mindfulness tools and creativity. I love serving children and offering support to those closely connected to them- parents, community leaders and educators.
With my BA in Dance Education, I’ve taught ages 3-10 through various dance classes and summer camps. As a Certified Children’s Yoga Instructor I offer virtual Mommy and Me yoga classes to my CraftyMom community. . I encourage moms to be present as they balance calm and chaos by using mindfulness tools for themselves in addition to their children. My business Power 2 Pause allows me to speak and educate others on mindfulness. And I am excited to start rolling out products this year.
I had the honor of being a TEDx speaker in 2020 when I first mentioned the power of a pause. My next stage with be this May at the Ultimate Product Party, and 3 day conference for women with product based businesses.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
First let me just put this out there….the journey is HARD! But it is worth it!
For me, my faith has had biggest impact on my journey. Being able to really hold on to knowing there is a plan and it will all work for my good, that has kept me in the hard moments. When life throws the curve balls it pushes me to keep going. Secondly- I would saw discipline. I am a believer that creating a plan and setting goals then breaking them down in bite size action steps. Don’t get discouraged, celebrate the wins and learn from the hiccups. Lastly maintaining a positive outlook. I practice gratitude and am intentional about keeping the right perspective.
Who is your ideal client or what sort of characteristics would make someone an ideal client for you?
When I think of connecting with someone for me it really is about building community- both with CraftyMom and Power 2 Pause.
If you are a mom who is always taking care of her village and often forgetting you matter too- welcome to my community. I want to give you tools. If you have small children and want to find fun activities for them I am your girl. It’s in the name CraftyMom. And if you need a reset and want to know what taking a pause looks like and how it can impact your life I want to connect with you!
