We recently connected with Bekah Blagg and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Bekah, we’re so appreciative of you taking the time to share your nuggets of wisdom with our community. One of the topics we think is most important for folks looking to level up their lives is building up their self-confidence and self-esteem. Can you share how you developed your confidence?
For me, confidence comes from knowledge! I learn a lot from previous projects but I also actively seek out additional education for the services I offer. I like to be able to explain the “why” behind the recommendations and advice I give to my clients. As long as I can do that, I have a really strong confidence in what I do. If I struggle with something, you can bet I will probably be certified in that topic by the end of the week – ha!
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I like to say what I do is home staging with a twist! Typically when you think home staging, you think about a staging company that brings beautiful furniture into an empty home. Well, those aren’t the homes I stage! Instead, I work with the real life, lived in homes. You know those folks that will be living in their home while it’s on the market? Those are my clients! I show them how to transform their home into a marketable property that will photograph well and appeal to a big group of buyers. I always say, “the way you live in a home is not the way you stage it to sell”. This is true for all occupied homes, even mine! You can completely alter the way people view your home just by doing a different furniture arrangement, putting color in strategic places, and giving each room the right identity.
I do occupied staging for all types of homes but I specialize in the rural, country homes. There’s a whole lifestyle you need to sell in these homes and I can show them exactly how to do it!
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
I would say the 3 most impactful areas of knowledge and skill for me would be communication, drive and knowing who my ideal client is. Once you really understand who your ideal client is, everything “clicks”. If you have a good grasp on that in the early stages of your business, you can be so much more productive in your marketing. People need to understand who you are trying to speak to and what problem you are trying to solve for them. In another sense, you won’t always be working with your absolute ideal client and that’s where good communication skills will guide you through. Doing your research on different personality types and the type of communication that resonates with them will make your life so much easier! Not everyone is going to accept what you say in the way you typically say it, it’s up to you to know your service so well that you can deliver the message in many different ways.
Drive is what will keep you going through it all! A good understanding of your “why” will keep you learning from your experiences and pushing through the difficult times.
Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?
Absolutely! I love partnering up with like-minded real estate agents and brokerages. My staging consultations are a great add to listing packages and they take a lot off of the agent’s plate as well. I can have the hard conversations with the sellers and the agent can get great listing photos for their marketing and brand.
If you’re a real estate agent and would like to talk about partnering up, reach out to me on any of my social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, TikTok) or through email! I would love the opportunity to talk with you about how we can take your occupied listings to the next level.
