Meet Belinda Tung

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Belinda Tung. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Belinda, so good to have you with us today. We’ve always been impressed with folks who have a very clear sense of purpose and so maybe we can jump right in and talk about how you found your purpose?
My superpower is in connecting people and amplifying their light. When I had my child, obviously it was my job to make sure that I always connected to her light and helped to amplify it. Having given birth in the industrial medical complex without having done any research about birthing, this idea was slowly going downhill for me. I was very disconnected from my daughter and my attempts at keeping her alive seemed very mechanistic. I use the term “keeping her alive” because the advice I received from the hospital could not be considered “nourishment” at all, but the base necessities to keep a body alive. Luckily, in the years that followed, I experienced a succession of synchronicities that led me to become hyper aware that the way the industrial medical and educational complexes function has a great potential for putting children in an environment that does not foster the unfolding of their unique talents, but rather shuts them down. How do we expect to positively evolve humanity when children aren’t seen or valued…from the time they are born?

You know the saying, “Hurt people, hurt people.”?
For me, I feel like this is where we are at now. We are a society of hurt people hurting others and for me, I think it all stems from the way children have been raised. Children come to us with their own Divine purpose and they are just shut down from it as a societal norm.

This is where my purpose was made clear. The mainstream systems that we are used to are not the only options for us and our children. There are plenty of people that have courageously paved a more heart-centered path before us. When we know better, we do better. From free-birthing to unschooling and everything in between, we have the freedom to choose what we can intuit will be best for ourselves, our family and our unique child. Often, it’s helpful to see that there’s a path.

Perfect Child was born with a mission to change the paradigm of childhood such that every child is met with reverence and a curiosity to learn from them. We are a resource for parents who are wanting to lean in to the little voice in their head that continues to whisper that something is not right with how the system is defining their child. We do this by sharing the stories and wisdom of those who have chosen the unbeaten path to parent from the heart. Many of whom have opened doors for all children. We are creating a community for all of us to feel supported as we parent consciously to help amplify our child’s light and uplift them; knowing they are meant to shine and positively evolve humanity with their Divine gifts.

What I’ve also learned is that in order to show up for my child and support her unfolding, I have had to dig deep to give love to my own inner child. I’ve had to be brave to consider new paths because they feel right regardless of whether it’s been done before and to tune out the nay-sayers whether real or perceived. This has been the experience of many of our wisdom-keepers and will likely be the experience of future parents walking this path. This has been and continues to be my journey. It’s brought me a lot of joy and I feel grateful to be building a community, online and in-person, in support of parenting from the heart to deeply connect with our little humans.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
When I had my child, I really entrenched myself in her world, taking her to play groups, I ran her preschool for three years, and when she was in school, I was the class parent, these types of things. Simultaneously, I enrolled in Waldorf Education Teacher training and learned so much about child development, which looked completely different from what the mainstream system purports. It really made me realize that children simply need to be allowed to develop in their own time. Now when someone says their child has “X”(fill in the blank) ___ ADD, ADHD, etc, I literally cringe because, in my perspective, the child is not broken – the system is.

As shared above, I founded Perfect Child with a mission to change the paradigm of childhood such that every child is met with reverence and a curiosity to learn from them. It lights me up to be sharing the gifts and wisdom of people that have forged new paths as parents and individuals and have opened doors for others to step in and away from the mainstream systems that aren’t serving us.

We recently hosted the Developmental Sovereignty Symposium which was really well received. We had speakers and experiences for parents to learn more about what developmental sovereignty is – which is allowing the child to develop free from judgement and not subjecting them or yourself to an arbitrary set of developmental milestones created by a system that does not recognize the individuality of each child. This was an in-person event in Oregon. We hope to make this an annual event.

I’m also really excited to be launching a private membership option on my website where members get access to deeper dives of the content that is shared publicly. This will be evergreen content that members will have forever access to to help them gain a better understanding of child and human development and to live and act as empowered beings. This membership will offer hand-holding for those that are seeking community to do hard things in support of raising their children in joy.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Intuition is a big one. Intuition is subtle, but impactful. I’ve always just followed that little voice in my head with curiosity and a knowing that as I head down the path that is directed towards me, whether or not that path has been trodden, it will work out for me. Sometimes, it seems scary but that is where faith comes in – faith that Spirit desires to deliver what is for our highest good. I’ve gotten to the place of faith and hearing my intuition through regular meditation. If someone is unfamiliar with meditation, I’d suggest finding an app that can help one to get started. Meditation is what shows me the next steps in my path as I endeavor to create a global network of wisdom-keepers and a solid community of conscious, curious humans.

Gratitude and journaling are the other two practices that continue to guide my path. Life just seems to flow more easefully when we express and take a note of gratitude for what we have, the experiences that we encounter each day and just the people and all life that surround us. I am a big proponent of journaling so for those that are unfamiliar with the practice of journaling or writing down gratitudes, I recommend starting with writing down three gratitudes every night before bed. Review through your day and write down three things that you have gratitude for from the day. Be specific and descriptive. I like to write it like “I have gratitude for ____ because____” What do you have gratitude for from the day and why? I promise, when you start, it becomes almost like a game – you begin to look forward to finding what you could be writing down at the end of the day and the list begins to grow and so does your joy.

Once you get in the habit of journaling, beginning with expressing your gratitudes, you might find that you are eager for the practice of journaling and you might try just writing down all your questions from the day. The act of writing down the questions and sleeping on it, might just provide you with the answers sometime the following day or during the days after. It’s definitely a practice with great rewards.

How can folks who want to work with you connect?
I am ALWAYS looking for folks to partner and collaborate with! Perfect Child is a resource for parents and a marketing platform for wisdom-keepers that offer a service or perspective that is heart-centered and holds the child in high esteem. We are a resource for the whole parenting spectrum. When we become parents, what I’ve found is that in order to be conscious parents and “show up” for our children, we often have to do our own inner work to “parent” our inner child to give her/him the love that wasn’t received when we were younger. We have a variety of wisdom-keepers that support this inner child work and would love to continue adding to our collective.

We are also always interested to partner with those that have expertise/experience in stepping out of the system in order to help your child thrive. We like to feature testimonials as well so if you are a free birther or unschooling parent or have expertise in either, please do reach out.

Additionally, many of us also find ourselves in the season of our lives where our parents are aging and we need to “parent” them. How do we support our parents as they move toward their ascension into their light bodies? Definitely, if you are a death doula or have wisdom in this area, please do contact me.
