We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Beth Nydick a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Beth, we’re thrilled to have you sharing your thoughts and lessons with our community. So, for folks who are at a stage in their life or career where they are trying to be more resilient, can you share where you get your resilience from?
My resilience does not come from avoiding challenges or hardships. I have faced difficulties like being bullied as a child for being tall and wanting to be my authentic self. I have endured profound losses like when my father-in-law was tragically killed. It took time to recover after that trauma. However, my resilience comes from choosing to learn and grow from adversities, rather than let them break me. I gain inner strength each time I overcome trials and setbacks. My resilience stems from within, from cultivating qualities like courage, optimism, and perseverance. It grows as I build self-confidence through surviving life’s ups and downs. Resilience is not something given to me; it is developed through my own experiences and attitudes. Hardships may test me, but my resilience comes from facing them head-on and moving forward.
Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Looking back, the three most impactful things for me on my journey have been: Persistence. I can’t stress enough how critical it is to keep showing up, day after day, and working toward your goals even when progress feels slow. Quitting was never an option for me. If you want to succeed, you have to persist through all the challenges and find ways around obstacles.
Self-belief. Having confidence in myself and my abilities allowed me to take risks and put myself out there when it would have been easy to play small. Build up your self-belief by celebrating little wins, focusing on strengths, and visualizing future success. The more you believe in yourself, the more others will too.
Communication skills. Being able to effectively share my vision/ideas, connect with people, and tell compelling stories has been so important. Strong communication is invaluable for pitching, networking, leading teams, and much more. Take opportunities to speak up and practice explaining your passion. Seek feedback to improve.
For those starting out, my advice is to be patient with yourself. View it as a lifelong journey of growth. Focus on continuous learning and development in your field. Build a strong network of mentors and collaborators who can guide you. Embrace failures and feedback as opportunities to get better. Stay inspired by those farther ahead. With the right mindset and effort, you will make progress over time. Most importantly, believe in your abilities and keep persistently working toward your dreams.
To close, maybe we can chat about your parents and what they did that was particularly impactful for you?
Looking back, the most impactful thing my parents did for me was creating the opportunity for me to participate in Landmark Forum. Attending Landmark as a young adult truly transformed my life and set me on a course for greater fulfillment and success. Through the seminar, I gained powerful new communication skills that allowed me to connect more deeply with people. I learned how my own thinking and mental models were shaping my reality. Landmark gave me the tools to take control of my life and stop playing small. I was able to set ambitious goals and start living more on purpose.
My parents recognized the immense value of personal development seminars like Landmark. Even though the program was an investment, my parents believed in me and wanted to provide this breakthrough experience. It showed me that they were committed to supporting my growth and saw my great potential.
Attending Landmark Forum showed me that I could accomplish far more than I ever thought possible. It sparked a passion for self-improvement that still motivates me today. I’ll always be grateful to my parents for giving me this gift early on my journey. Their support and belief in me was life-changing. I cannot imagine where I would be today without having had that defining experience.
As successful entrepreneurs themselves, my parents understood the importance of personal development and leadership skills. By investing in my growth, they set me up for success in my own entrepreneurial path. Their example and encouragement gave me the courage to create my own business and impact people’s lives through my work. I’m fortunate to have learned invaluable lessons about achieving my potential from my parents.
