Meet Beverly Obasiolu

We recently connected with Beverly Obasiolu and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Beverly, we’re so appreciative of you taking the time to share your nuggets of wisdom with our community. One of the topics we think is most important for folks looking to level up their lives is building up their self-confidence and self-esteem. Can you share how you developed your confidence?
I developed my confidence and self-esteem through experience. Life experiences have taught me to become confident in myself and to understand my value. Taking the time to get to know yourself really helps and to not believe what someone negative has to say about you because that can always put you in a downward spiral where no one wants to be. Self-esteem comes from loving yourself and again, the only way to do that is to get to know who you are.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
I am a creative innovator in fashion and music. I come up with creative ideas and scenarios off the top of my head and can creatively direct photo shoots, etc. I am also CEO/editor of my own fashion magazine, Faschic Magazine. I started back in 2016 up until now. I believe the special part of what I do is getting to network, getting to collaborate with others and help work on their dream come to life. The most exciting part is actually seeing it happen right in front of me. I love the outcome of my work and that gives an amazing feeling that cannot be bought.

I did a fashion show last year (2023) Fashion In The Gardens powered by Indulge Events and the outcome was more than I expected it to be. We had a blast! I intend on having another launch of something really big in the near future but I will definitely see how the cards will fall. I can’t tell you right now but it’s what the fashion industry in Louisiana needs!

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
I truly believe that the skill you MUST have if you’re going into publication is not only professionalism, but the skill to edit! Let me explain. I strongly believe this because so many things can happen last minute and you may not know how to do it amongst other things for your publication, especially when it comes to editing. Learn how to do your placement of layouts, photo editing/cropping and fonts. It’s very easy once you get the hang of what you’re doing. Learning how to do it all really is something you must possess in my opinion.

It’s also very important to have the knowledge of what you could get yourself into when it comes to collaborating with others. Always do your research on the business or person you network with so that your time isn’t wasted. Figure out what resources you need for your brand or business along your journey that will keep you on the right path!

How can folks who want to work with you connect?
Yes. I am always looking for others to partner with that are dedicated individuals who have the helping mindset. Trust me, everybody wants to get paid but I’m looking for someone that sees I have a beautiful, wonderful brand at hand and is in it for the long run. I have my brand ambassadors that has been by my side but I’m looking for a local (Baton Rouge, LA) and honest assistant.

I also what to collaborate with hairstylist, makeup artists, video/photographers, radio hosts, fashion show coordinators, fashion designers. There are so many other people in the fashion industry that I want to work with. I don’t discriminate. Just please be professional and trustworthy! I would love to network with my local news company and city publications.
