We were lucky to catch up with Bianca T. Adams recently and have shared our conversation below.
Bianca, thanks so much for taking the time to share your insights and lessons with us today. We’re particularly interested in hearing about how you became such a resilient person. Where do you get your resilience from?
Resilience can be defined as the capacity to withstand or recover quickly from difficulties. It can also be described as the ability to spring back into shape. I have had multiple experiences in my life that have built resilience. Resilience is something that I was not born with but that I developed through different life challenges. I will categorize these life challenges into three levels: The challenge. The journey. The new skill set/muscle acquired.
Challenges appear in our lives on a daily basis. It is up to us to try different solutions to overcome those challenges. Or we can always let those challenges bully us into a comfort zone. An example of a challenge that I can share is moving into unknown territory in my business. I have been in business for 10 years, and the thought of doing something new that would benefit my team and all around me frightens me to my core. Self-doubt, procrastination, and negative self-talk walked right into my mind because I could not fathom being successful in this new journey. “Me,” being successful in this…OMG!!! This was a constant thought going through my mind. Why did this go through my mind? Because I had not seen this in my family lineage. However, I could touch someone who had done it. And if they could do it, so could I.
The Journey consists of first conditioning my mind to be fertile ground. I had to get that negative self-talk out of my mind. I did this by listening to YouTube videos about the new ventures and listening to audiobooks. I also vowed to remove distractions. Distractions for me are social media. Overcoming this challenge required my mind to be in a different environment. In order to develop resilience, you first have to create an environment for it to flourish. That environment was my mind.
The new skill set/muscle is currently being built. I created a mental environment for resilience to flourish. This new environment pushes me to get moving. Moving forward equals progress. The outcome will be a success! I declare it. I challenge others to go through the above steps to incorporate resilience into those things that have made a mountain in their lives.
So where I get my resilience from is by remembering the challenges, the journey, and the new skill set/muscle acquired to get this far, it keeps me pushing forward.
Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
My name is Bianca Adams, and I find solutions for healthcare providers. The solutions include getting reimbursements for healthcare providers, enrolling providers and insurance networks within the United States, playing denial management, and training healthcare practices. Many Healthcare Providers are excellent at the services that they provide to clients/patients. However, when it comes to running a business or operating a healthcare practice, the healthcare provider lacks the knowledge and resources to operate efficiently. My brand is BT Elite Healthcare Consulting, where we’ve been in business since 2013, and we currently operate in seven different states. The most exciting thing that we have going on this year is our 10-year anniversary in November. We are celebrating 10 years of serving Healthcare Providers all across the United States. Please visit our website at www.btelite.com and enjoy our new exciting blog where we educate Healthcare Providers and other medical billers across the United States. The team has grown, and we are very resourceful and knowledgeable about our providers.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Three qualities that are most impactful in my journey include: Being resourceful
Knowledgeable
Having a positive attitude.
To be resourceful is to find solutions to problems. I may not know how to solve them, but I have to know how to get the solution or find a solution to the problem, and I also use the process of elimination. Being resourceful is attractive to people who constantly have problems or don’t know how to solve them. The next quality that I think I have is being knowledgeable, I read a lot, and I know how to interpret what I’m reading. The information that I learned I always implemented in my life first and then suggest others implement it. “Reading is Fundamental.” This is one of my mottos, I say it to myself quite frequently, and I also say it to the people that I interact with. I also say, “Readers are Leaders.” It may sound cliche to others, but it is factual. Those who read and comprehend have an advantage over the masses.
Having a positive attitude triumphs over both of those qualities. As long as one can stay in a positive mental state, whatever needs to come to them will come, but just having a positive mindset, being optimistic and not pessimistic, removing yourself from negative people or negative information, or taking anything negative. If you remove yourself from those negative things and continue to keep a positive mindset, the answers will always come.
The advice I have for others is to practice, practice, practice. This means if you find yourself having negative thoughts constantly, start capturing those negative thoughts and replacing them with positive affirmations. This simple start can lead to a mind-blowing change. You have to get your mind right! This is where everything starts. Listen to positive podcasts, YouTube videos, etc. Start to drown that negativity out! That negative voice will become fainter and fainter. Then MOVE. You have to start making movements toward the things you want to accomplish. No one can do it but YOU!
What is the number one obstacle or challenge you are currently facing and what are you doing to try to resolve or overcome this challenge?
I’m always aiming to push myself to the next level. The next level is always a challenge because it’s Uncharted territory. The Challenge I’m facing now is learning a whole new world. I was never exposed to this world, but it is a world of abundance that I must navigate. I’m having to invest in self-development and educational classes. I also have to build up my self-confidence in order to implement the task. I must have no doubt in my mind that I can achieve this new task! How am I doing that? I just continuously become or do progressive things to become the person that I desire to be. I want to be an industry leader in this new industry. And most importantly, I want those who have been on my team to go with me to this new level.
