Meet BOBBI MEYERS. MBA

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful BOBBI MEYERS. MBA. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with BOBBI below.

Hi BOBBI, thank you so much for opening up with us about some important, but sometimes personal topics. One that really matters to us is overcoming Imposter Syndrome because we’ve seen how so many people are held back in life because of this and so we’d really appreciate hearing about how you overcame Imposter Syndrome.
Imposter Syndrome-WOW! I was just speaking about this to a friend. Explaining to her how we, ourselves can be our own worst enemy. Our mind is an extremely powerful tool that if not used correctly, could cause us to self-destruct. So when having to choose a topic to share about, this one jumped right out. Seeing it made me feel like God was pushing me to do something that he has been on my back about, through visions and dreams, constantly. Ok God I don’t believe in coincidences-I’m tired of running, here I am -open and ready to do your will…

So… how did I overcome imposter syndrome? First I had to learn what it was and then ADMIT I had it. Tired of always wondering why the opportunities went to someone else, and coming to grips things weren’t lining up as planned; that began the real work… I decided to look at the BOSS in the mirror and become the change that I wanted to see. First up- understanding which fueled my quest for knowledge. I read a lot of books on self help and spent tons of time deep diving into the mind and how it correlates to how we think, act and the result we receive through manifestation.I also learned how to closely guard the triggers that fuel self doubt, through practices such as meditation, breathing techniques like, 4-7-8 (inhaling for 4-hold for 7-exhale for 8) and close connection with God helps to keep imposter syndrome at bay. . It took a lot of time, my best investment, and is a constant work in progress, -but it’s truly worth it.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
Bobbi Meyers, who after two decades in real estate launched Brown Meyers Brokers in July 2015, has a very simple approach to sales success. “I treat others the way I’d like to be treated,” says this former corporate professional, who spent years executing million-dollar deals for IBM and various Fortune 500 companies. “I understand that buying a home is a major purchase, so I aim to help my clients make the very best decision they can for themselves and their family.” Meyers’ unwavering dedication to prioritizing clients’ needs has helped her build a stellar career over the past 16 years by doing, as she says, the right thing. She skyrocketed to the top of her field in her rookie year, selling more than $2 million in real estate and earning induction into the Atlanta Board of Realtors Multi-Million Dollar Club. She describes her new brokerage as “like no other brokerage in Atlanta.”

That is because Meyers is committed to inspiring her team to achieve greatness for their clients via targeted training. Her own professional background and Master of Business Administration, coupled with her love of homes, make her the ideal mentor for agents looking to strengthen their skills. She herself serves a range of clients, from first-time buyers to luxury home purchasers, but makes clear that budget does not dictate her level of service. “Clients want what they want for what they are willing to pay for it, so my job is to educate them about market conditions so that they can realistically make an informed decision.”

Meyers draws on her strong negotiation skills as well as her careful attention to detail to best meet clients’ needs; for example, making certain to show them homes based on important variables like neighborhood schools and commute time to work. Finding the right combination of factors for each individual client, she says, is what makes her career so exciting. “No two days and no two clients are exactly alike, and that’s what keeps me sharp.” Meyers is a certified CARTUS relocation specialist, making her an asset to anyone navigating the tricky waters of relocation. A self-described “consummate professional,” Meyers believes that building and sustaining relationships matter most because, in her opinion, relationships are at the heart of her profession.

In addition to her participation with the Atlanta Board of Realtors and her sorority, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc, this industry expert enjoys traveling as a way to recharge even as she sees the world and explores new cultures. “Travel provides a sense of how big and how amazing the world is,” she says. A native of St. Thomas in the Virgin Islands, Meyers also supports charitable causes like Purple Purse and Hosea Feed The Hungry and Homeless through her brokerage. But she considers her career to be the prime example of how she gives back to others by doing what she loves and does best. “There’s no better feeling than sitting at the closing table with my clients and seeing them smile ear to ear. Then they write that final signature and get their keys – the thrill of that moment is indescribable.”

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Three qualities that were most impactful on my professional journey are:

Communication Skills:
Effective communication is paramount in real estate. Whether it’s negotiating deals, explaining complex contracts to clients, or fostering relationships with other professionals in the industry, strong communication skills can set you apart. Being able to articulate ideas clearly, actively listen, and adapt your communication style to different stakeholders can greatly contribute to success.

Market Knowledge and Adaptability:
A deep understanding of the real estate market, including local trends, pricing strategies, and emerging developments, is crucial. Successful real estate professionals continuously educate themselves about market changes and adapt their strategies accordingly. Staying informed about economic factors, interest rates, and neighborhood dynamics allows you to provide valuable insights to clients and make informed decisions for your business.

Networking and Relationship Building:
Real estate is a relationship-driven industry. Building a robust network of clients, fellow agents, lenders, and other industry professionals can significantly impact your success. Networking helps you generate leads, gain referrals, and stay informed about market trends. Cultivating strong relationships with clients by understanding their needs and building trust is essential for repeat business and positive word-of-mouth referrals.

The advice I would give to new to real estate is:
Invest in Education:
Continuously educate yourself about the real estate industry. Attend workshops, seminars, and training programs to stay updated on market trends, legal changes, and best practices. Consider obtaining relevant certifications or licenses to enhance your credibility and knowledge.

Effective Communication Practices:
Hone your communication skills by practicing active listening, clear articulation, and the ability to convey complex information in a simple manner. Engage in role-playing scenarios or join public speaking clubs to build confidence in expressing ideas and negotiating effectively.

Build a Strong Online Presence:
In today’s digital age, having a strong online presence is crucial. Develop a professional website and maintain active profiles on social media platforms. Share valuable content, engage with your audience, and use these platforms to showcase your expertise in the real estate market.

Networking is Key:
Actively build and nurture your network. Attend industry events, join local real estate associations, and connect with fellow professionals. Networking is not just about receiving, but also giving – be genuine in your interactions and offer assistance to others when you can. This will help you establish a positive reputation within the community.

Seek Mentorship:
Identify experienced individuals in the real estate industry and seek mentorship. Learning from someone with a successful track record can provide invaluable insights, guidance, and shortcuts to success. Be open to feedback and willing to learn from both successes and challenges.

Embrace Adaptability:
The real estate market is dynamic, and successful professionals embrace adaptability. Stay open to learning new technologies, marketing strategies, and industry trends. Flexibility and adaptability will position you to navigate changes effectively and stay ahead of the curve.

Focus on Customer Service:
Prioritize exceptional customer service. Building and maintaining positive relationships with clients can lead to repeat business and referrals. Respond promptly to inquiries, set clear expectations, and go the extra mile to ensure your clients have a positive experience.

Develop Resilience:
Realize that challenges are inherent in any career, especially in real estate. Develop resilience to bounce back from setbacks, learn from failures, and maintain a positive mindset. Cultivate the ability to stay focused on your goals, even when faced with obstacles.
Remember that success in real estate is often a result of continuous learning, dedication, and building meaningful connections. Be patient with your journey, celebrate small victories, and use challenges as opportunities for growth.

To close, maybe we can chat about your parents and what they did that was particularly impactful for you?
The most impactful thing my parents did to prepare me for the world of entrepreneurship was instilling a relentless work ethic. From a young age, they demonstrated the value of hard work, dedication, and perseverance through their own endeavors. Their unwavering commitment to their craft became a guiding principle, teaching me that success in entrepreneurship often stems from a strong work ethic. This foundation has shaped my approach to challenges, fostering a determination to overcome obstacles and continually strive for excellence in my entrepreneurial journey.
