Meet Bobby Dimovski

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Bobby Dimovski. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Bobby, first a big thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts and insights with us today. I’m sure many of our readers will benefit from your wisdom, and one of the areas where we think your insight might be most helpful is related to imposter syndrome. Imposter syndrome is holding so many people back from reaching their true and highest potential and so we’d love to hear about your journey and how you overcame imposter syndrome.
I still haven’t! It’s an ongoing process to try and gauge who I am and how I stack up to my own expectations. Like most other business owners that I know, I am my own harshest critic. It’s tough to see through that criticism sometimes but what has helped more than anything is continuing to work on my listening skills…

I credit a lot of my business growth to just shutting up and listening to my clients or other successful people in the industry. I started to ask a lot of them about my performance, skills, and my business overall. When I used to receive positive feedback on this, I would immediately dismiss it or play devils advocate. What I’ve worked on over the years is being able to just listen to what they are saying, and try my best to embrace it instead of fighting it. Like I said, it’s an ongoing process and there are a lot of ups and downs with it, but sometimes you just have to take yourself out of the equation and see what other people are saying and trust that you deserve the positivity when it comes.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
When I started my business, it was all about helping other businesses grow using social media. That was 10 years ago when social media was a completely different world. I’m actually very excited in the direction that we’ve gone into because we aren’t just focused on growing businesses anymore, we are focused on genuine authenticity and community. Yes, these can help businesses grow but it’s also focused on helping the people that these businesses serve.

2 things that we have launched that I am pumped to keep growing are our new promotional website, KnowYourDr.com. This is a space where physicians can showcase who they are as humans, not just as medical professionals. Ultimately our goal with this is to help patients connect with the right doctor for them and to help these doctors be themselves and not have to hide behind the white coat.

The second piece that we recently added is podcast production. It has been extremely fun and helped all of our creative juices flow more. It has brought a lot of life into our team and I’m excited to add some additional shows in the future and hopefully produce and manage a full podcast network helping to serve our clients and their communities!

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
It’s much easier said than done but I think the three things that were most impactful for me were patience, perspective, and a strong support system.

One thing that has helped me to build perspective is to try and reflect and think back to where I was in my career 5, 10, 15 years ago. I try to think about myself back then and what that younger version of me would think about where I am now. That always helps to get me through the challenges of if I’m doing well enough or times when I am really beating myself up.

Patience is always the hardest mindset to have in my opinion. It’s so incredibly hard, especially in the beginning when there are so many questions about what the future holds. Ultimately, all you can do is trust yourself and put in the work. When my business took off it wasn’t because of some dramatic event that popped up. It happened because of the seeds I planted years ahead of time that eventually came to fruition. You just have to keep planting them and keep moving forward.

Support is the #1 most impactful piece of my journey though. I was ready to give up my business 24 months after I started. My wife was right by my side encouraging me and holding me up when I was at my lowest. Without her support, sacrifice, and encouragement, I would never be where I am at today.

On top of that, I have been able to lean on family and friends to help me throughout the highs and lows of my journey as well. I’ve learned that you can only get that type of support if you put yourself out there and let people know you need the help.

What would you advise – going all in on your strengths or investing on areas where you aren’t as strong to be more well-rounded?
I personally believe you lean into your strengths as much as possible. The beauty of doing this is that if more people do this, we can rely on experts in different areas instead of hoping to do everything on our own. I really believe community needs to be so much more prevalent in our society (personally and professionally) and one way to do this is to let people focus on their strengths and passions.

I’ve always had a fairly well rounded business acumen but my weakness has always been accounting. For years I tried to make sure I could handle all the accounting and bookkeeping for my business and two things happened:

1) I made a lot of mistakes in my books and they were never quite right
2) I stressed myself out to my wits end trying to figure it out

I eventually was able to outsource the financial side of my business so I could focus more on what I do best. It has changed my day to day work dramatically and helped me be happier and more focused. My bookkeeper is tremendous and she is focused on what she does best. As long as we can all use our strengths to help one another I think that it is the best way to grow.
