Meet Bree Gordon

We were lucky to catch up with Bree Gordon recently and have shared our conversation below.

Bree , we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.

We are born with extraordinary gifts, quirks, and experiences that shape us into who we are. Growing up, I would sit in my room and write stories, poems, and even songs. I spent countless family events reciting poems for my family members and loved ones.

Using my words to uplift and transform the lives of others has always been my superpower– a gift I’ve been blessed to share with others. Since I can remember, my voice has been the vessel through which I’ve impacted the lives of others.

And then, my life was tremendously impacted when I experienced a divorce. Growing through divorce helped me see unhealthy relationship patterns I witnessed growing up and ultimately carried into my relationships.

Working through the pain of divorce pushed me into my purpose and birthed a movement of sharing raw and unfiltered truths on a journey of healing and self-discovery. I wrote Black Coffee: From Empty to Overflowing with Peace, Healing, and Purpose, telling the stories of three women who have heavily influenced my perception of love and self-worth. Now, 20 years later, I’ve grown from sitting in my room to standing in front of audiences and helping others to boldly show up in their relationships and lead a life of peace, freedom, and purpose.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
Words have the power to heal, transform, and empower. As the author of Black Coffee, I tell relatable stories so women can see themselves and reimagine what their lives and relationships could look like. The best part of what I do is witnessing the transformation of so many from living in fear to creating a life they confidently and purposefully lead.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

The three most impactful qualities on my journey were developing a growth mindset, building healthy relationships, and strengthening my emotional intelligence. The bonus quality is learning to ask for help.

The best way to improve your skills and become better is by getting a mentor or coach to provide you with leadership and direction. Often, we find ourselves wanting to do everything by ourselves, and that is rarely the answer.

I’ve hired a therapist and a few coaches to help me along my journey, and with each investment, I’ve seen a difference in how I show up in my life and relationships.

Thanks so much for sharing all these insights with us today. Before we go, is there a book that’s played in important role in your development?
The Four Agreements is my favorite book. It is a simple yet insightful book that has helped me on my journey because it offers nuggets on living a life of personal freedom. The author provides practical advice on how to drop self-limiting beliefs and create the life you desire. It played a role in my awareness of the words I use, which reflects how I communicate with others.
