Meet Brenda Kithcart

We were lucky to catch up with Brenda Kithcart recently and have shared our conversation below.

Brenda, we’re thrilled to have you sharing your thoughts and lessons with our community. So, for folks who are at a stage in their life or career where they are trying to be more resilient, can you share where you get your resilience from?
Great question! I get this one often!

I honestly can’t pinpoint where my resilience comes from exactly. But I know that I’ve always been able to take on whatever life has thrown at me. Always just diving in head first to get to the end result. So excited to see the promise on the other side.

If I put my mind to it, I believe that I can accomplish it. As I grow my relationship through my religion of Christianity, I begin to learn that it’s simply my strong faith I carry to know that when I receive vision, it has to come to pass. I don’t see limits, but I do know road blocks will come along. With that, I do my best to get through them with good courage, which is easier said than done.

Entrepreneurship will build you more than you imagine, as it relates to your character. As you dig deeper into your mission and “success” comes along, it can get you to the core, where you honestly feel naked and isolated. In those moments, I have to keep sight of the end result, the promise. If I hold on to that, I can use my faith to be a bridge to get to the other side.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
I am the Director/Founder of Kreative Kidz NC, a childcare service company in Raleigh/Durham, NC. We offer childcare in the forms of Half-Day Programs, Mobile Childcare, and Event Childcare.

We began in 2016, as I just wanted to fulfill our mission, still today, of creating lasting memories with children, while providing parents a peace of mind. We pride ourselves in providing a creative learning experience for children in our area and the families enjoy what we offer, too.

We hope to expand soon, as our program is growing a great deal in this season. We have transitioned our Drop In Services to a Half Day Program, with drop in childcare still available. We are working to embed a Pre-K curriculum for our Learning Year that will begin on September 5, 2023. Tours are available, spots are limited.

We are very grateful for the support of our community! Please stop by and get a book from our “Book Box” located at our Learning Center! Thanks to our collaboration with Book Harvest in Durham!

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Looking back, I’d have to say organization, balance, and accountability.

For anyone early in their journey, I’d say to be sure you have a solid foundation always. In every area of your business. Don’t be quick to outsource every task. KNOW YOUR BUSINESS! It’s your baby, that’s supposed to be birthed through you. Start at the bottom & take the stairs! Once you’ve reached a few steps higher, you’ll be glad you did.

Every piece of what you learn at the bottom steps matters on your journey!

All the wisdom you’ve shared today is sincerely appreciated. Before we go, can you tell us about the main challenge you are currently facing?
The current challenge I am facing, is getting to a point of moving out of the way of myself and trusting others to assist in carrying more of the load of the mission of Kreative Kidz NC. As the company began from me branding my personal babysitting services, a team along with the want to service multiple families as a whole, came later. Once I saw how much of a need we had in the Raleigh/Durham Area, I had no idea what I had begun, but with me enjoying a challenge, I just dove right in!

We’ve grown from nothing, over the past 7 years, and truly greater just in the last few months. From this growth, I’ve had to be more intentional and strategic with not only Kreative Kidz NC, but myself as an individual. Growing in my own confidence and trusting myself has been my personal journey, along with the responsibility of being a wife, mom, and First Lady on top of being a business owner. I’ve been learning that delegation and being bold is key to keeping the fire going in what has been ignited in me. The vision that is being carried through this “little business”, is going to continue to grow greater than, even I, can imagine, and I can’t wait to see what it looks like, through God’s view.
