Meet Bri Butler

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Bri Butler a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Bri, thank you so much for making time for us today. Let’s jump right into a question so many in our community are looking for answers to – how to overcome creativity blocks, writer’s block, etc. We’d love to hear your thoughts or any advice you might have.
When facing a creative block, I find that stepping away from the project and giving my mind a break is key. I like to switch gears by listening to music, completing other tasks on my to-do list, or scrolling through Pinterest for some inspiration. This break allows me to clear my mind and come back to the project with a new perspective and more ideas.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I am the owner of 601KRE8TIVE®, and your long-lost KRE8TIVE cousin. At 601KRE8TIVE, I am your one-stop for all things digital marketing and branding! I offer services ranging from social media marketing, design, photography, and videography.

The most exciting part about being a multifaceted creative is that I get to do what I love, be creative 24/7! I love helping my clients bring their visions to life while maintaining an unforgettable presence in the digital world.

I am also the Founder of Classroom Kids Foundation, a nonprofit organization that provides teachers and students in underprivileged areas with the needed materials to succeed in the classroom.

Growing up, I never knew what I wanted to do career-wise. I would change professions every day, but it wasn’t until I got to Tougaloo College that I found my love for Advertising, Marketing, and creating visuals.

Classroom Kids Foundation came about after I hosted my first Back 2 School Drive. I know how hard it is to get everything on a school supply list, especially in this economy. I wanted to make a change and make school supplies accessible to both educators and students at no cost.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Having discipline, patience, and being ambitious have been the most impactful qualities on this journey. No, I did not have all of these qualities starting, but I knew that I needed those qualities to build and maintain a successful brand. I am always open to learning new things, and that is another thing that has gotten me to where I am today.

If you are early on in your journey, I like to tell people slow motion is better than no motion. As long as you find that discipline and stay the course, good things will come to you! Make sure you have like-minded people in your corner who genuinely want to see you succeed.

If you knew you only had a decade of life left, how would you spend that decade?
Believe it or not, I am an introvert. I do not like talking at all. This is one of my BIGGEST challenges as an entrepreneur and a person, but I understand that talking is something that I have to do if I want to be successful. I’m one of the ones who would prefer to be behind the scenes.

Public speaking has always been a problem for me and this is coming from a person with a degree in Communications, crazy right? Lol.

I have begun to do a lot of things out of the norm like participating in panels, attending networking events, and going Live on Facebook. I have even hosted my first event – Headshot Happy Hour. I have also built a community on Facebook. For potential clients to trust me, I have to show up.

It is a huge challenge to overcome and it’s very uncomfortable, but that just means I’m growing!
