Meet Brian Jordan

We were lucky to catch up with Brian Jordan recently and have shared our conversation below.

Brian, so great to have you with us and we want to jump right into a really important question. In recent years, it’s become so clear that we’re living through a time where so many folks are lacking self-confidence and self-esteem. So, we’d love to hear about your journey and how you developed your self-confidence and self-esteem.
I developed my confidence from the extreme love and uplifting words I received from my mother, honestly. It began from there due to the fact that she spoke highly of me to me and that’s important in child development I believe. She let me know that it was okay to think and have an opinion at a young age. I understood that I was enough in any given situation. I was taught to go after what I believe and fight for what I believe in. As well as anything I set my mind to, with hardwork and dedication I can acheive it.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
I’m a poet & a creative director, I write, record and perform poetry. As a creative director I produce shows, scripts, brand merchandise, visual art, photography, videography as well as directing. I feel that the ability to translate a vision through various forms of creativity is special. I always belived the phrase “Walk In Your Purpose” so I feel blessed to be able to illustrate visions in many different ways. I feel like it’s our job as humans to inform and inspire. As far as new products I have some new clothing merchandise from the brand Perceptions Perspective (located on the website www.pursuit4perspective.com) coming soon that will represent the theme of a Spokenword project I’ll be releasing a lil later this year . I’m super excited to release some new poetic works it’s been quite a hiatus . But it’s allowed me to experience life at a different click. My art reflects my reality. I’ll also be working on producing some next level content this summer, can’t wait to get started on that!

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
My top three skills/ knowledge would have to be 1. Comprehension/Communication 2. Do your research! 3. Understand your Why. My advice to anyone up and coming, regardless of the storm or hard times you may experience stay focused on your goals. Remain determined and persevere, it’ll pay off in the end. Also do your research on what you’re getting into. You’re only going to improve by applying repetition and commitment.

One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?
I’d love to collab with some creative and seriously driven individuals. People that believe in innovating and striving to be better. If anyone wants to reach me send me a message on Instagram (@checkyourfresh or @perceptionsperspective) I do respond back. And I’m willing to connect and build, it’s a lot ground that still needs to be covered.
