We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Brianna Rooney a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Brianna, first a big thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts and insights with us today. I’m sure many of our readers will benefit from your wisdom, and one of the areas where we think your insight might be most helpful is related to imposter syndrome. Imposter syndrome is holding so many people back from reaching their true and highest potential and so we’d love to hear about your journey and how you overcame imposter syndrome.
Imposter syndrome came on out of nowhere for me. In fact, it came when I was at a career-high, right after I sold my first company. I very much believe in coaching and I have an excellent exec coach who helped me significantly. I’d say the way I really overcame this and moved forward was by what I call a “growth and success journal” I have my goals bucketed out in all the different parts of my life. Such as; personal, health, kids, relationship, career, and family. Every day I spend a few minutes typing out what wins I had in all categories because they all matter. Personal and professional intertwine in a major way. If I feel like a failure in my personal life, it will bleed into my professional and vice versa. I needed to stop being so hard on myself. It feels good to put all my “pats on the back” in one spot. It reminds me to celebrate myself in every aspect.
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
Today, my passion lies in nurturing the growth of other businesses. I specialize in coaching and training entrepreneurs, equipping them with the tools to not only boost profitability but also cultivate a millionaire mindset. From fine-tuning recruitment strategies to fostering a culture of success, I’m dedicated to guiding entrepreneurs on the path to sustained prosperity and future-proofing their ventures.
Recently I have been diving in headfirst into public speaking engagements and leading team training events. With over 15 years of experience, I’ve discovered that nothing lights up my soul more than sharing my expertise and propelling others toward their career aspirations. There’s an indescribable joy in witnessing the transformation of others and igniting a spark of abundance within them.
Moreover, I’ve had the pleasure of collaborating with various top-tier recruiting solutions as their brand ambassador. I have an eye for innovation. I meticulously select the tools and solutions that align with my standards. Exploring cutting-edge technology in this field is not just exhilarating – it’s downright electrifying! When I stumble upon a game-changer, I’m itching to spread the word and share the excitement with others.
Exciting news alert: I’m gearing up to launch an innovative recruiting course designed specifically to teach individuals the art of startup recruitment. There’s a whole science behind partnering with founders and assembling the perfect founding team – and I can’t wait to unveil the secrets to success!
This course was inspired by my collaboration with Paraform, a cutting-edge tech recruiting marketplace specializing in seed to Series A companies, this course is set to revolutionize how we approach startup recruitment.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Embracing mistakes as stepping stones to success is my mantra. I thrive on the thrill of swiftly identifying and implementing solutions, never allowing myself to dwell. My approach is unique – I possess a rare ability to dissect problems holistically while also considering the bigger picture. This is what sets me apart in a crowded field.
Self-awareness is my superpower. I’m keenly attuned to my strengths and weaknesses, leveraging my genius to its full potential. I find immense fulfillment in guiding others toward their own growth journey. As I empower others to be better, I too am propelled to new heights of personal and professional development. It keeps me on my toes.
I was told, “What is the worst thing that can happen? You can always make more money”. This advice is what has helped me embrace and enjoy risk. With greater risk, comes a higher reward. This has catapulted my career. Trust your gut, take the leap, and commit.
Awesome, really appreciate you opening up with us today and before we close maybe you can share a book recommendation with us. Has there been a book that’s been impactful in your growth and development?
I really enjoyed reading The 100x Leader. This helped me at work and in my personal life. It talks about the triggers you have in life and how to handle yourself. You can’t control situations, but you can control your own actions. It talks about empowering other leaders around you. Essentially, be a leader worth following.
