Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Brittney Carr. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Brittney, thank you so much for joining us today. Let’s jump right into something we’re really interested in hearing about from you – being the only one in the room. So many of us find ourselves as the only woman in the room, the only immigrant or the only artist in the room, etc. Can you talk to us about how you have learned to be effective and successful in situations where you are the only one in the room like you?
I believe who I am today was shaped by countless experiences that taught me I’m everything I want to be—and then some. Let’s face it, life can throw curveballs, but I’ve learned to navigate it by reminding myself, *loud and clear*, that I am worthy and deserving of whatever God has in store for me. We all need to internalize that—deep down, we have to know we are “all that!”
I look in the mirror and see more than just a reflection—I see beauty, I see uniqueness, and I see something no one else has. And just to be clear, this isn’t a dig at anyone else. It’s about recognizing your own greatness. You have to know that you bring something special to the table. You have something only *you* can offer, whether it’s in a room full of people or in any situation you dive into.
When you walk into a room, own it! Know that what’s meant for you is yours, whether you get it right away or not. Walk out with your head held high, because when one door closes, another one opens—and that’s not just a saying, it’s a fact! Trust that your time is coming. Be patient, but don’t forget to stay consistent. You’ve got this, believe it!
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
Hey, I’m Brittney! Proud mom of three incredible girls, full-time government worker by day, and creative powerhouse by night. When the workday ends, you can find me either behind the camera or in front of it, turning ideas into magic. I’m the owner of MamaBee Modeling and Photography LLC, where I specialize in modeling, photography, videography, editing, writing, and a whole lot more!
My journey began with me striking a pose in front of cameras, sitting pretty for photoshoots, and slowly discovering the magic of creativity through the lens. Soon, I bought my own camera, and that’s when the real fun started. I’ve always had a love for capturing moments—whether it was selfies as a kid or candid shots of the world around me. After starting my own family, I found myself diving back into photography and videography, now capturing not just memories, but entire stories.
Along the way, I’ve had some amazing experiences, like walking in runway shows and being featured in a maternity commercial for MU Hospital’s new birthing center. I’m signed with Moxie Talent Agency. I’ve collaborated with UNice Wig Company to promote their 7×5 Water Wave Glueless Wig (Link in Bio—turn me up!), and I’ve even done skits with the amazing Julie Mango, including the “Pop the Balloon” parody and a promo for PBS promoting the local film festival. I traveled with her as her photographer for a creative expo to Kingston, Jamaica, where I had the opportunity to capture content with incredible people like Director and animation guru Craig Lyn, Blaise French (actor, model, marketing director), and many more! And, of course, I’ve been booked for everything from wedding photography to birthday parties, family reunions, proms, and high school dances.
Oh, and let me not forget—I have modeled for Sagnom Fashion, and you can find my work on their website today! It’s been a blast collaborating with such a stylish brand.
Now, I’m a traveling photographer/videographer who specializes in everything from breathtaking landscapes to authentic, candid moments. Whether I’m behind the camera or in front of it, modeling or acting, I make sure everything I create is polished and top-notch—because why settle for less when you can have the best?
And did I mention I’m an up-and-coming wig influencer? I showcase how the right wig can totally transform your look! My focus is on sleek, natural styles that make you feel like the best version of yourself. After all, who doesn’t want a little extra glam?
When I’m not behind the camera or creating fabulous looks with wigs, you’ll find me writing and editing behind-the-scenes footage for the latest skit or movie I’m working on. Everything I do is crafted with love and attention to detail.
I will be announcing my pilot soon. I want to create a film that’s suspenseful, mixed with drama, action, and amazing talent. A casting call will be announced, so stay tuned!
If you’re looking for someone who’s versatile, creative, and can juggle three girls, a dog, and a camera like a pro, I’d love to collaborate with you. Let’s make some magic happen!
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
I’ve always been that creative, artsy type of person, and that natural inclination was the spark that led me to where I am today. From a young age, I had a knack for styling my own hair—it just felt instinctive. Over time, I realized that in order to truly grow, I’d have to expand my skills, and that’s exactly what I did. Every step I took was just building upon that foundation, layering new techniques and knowledge on top of what already came naturally.
Being both in front of and behind the camera was always a part of me. But to truly excel, I knew I had to push myself further. I had to dive deep into the technical side and expand my understanding, and that’s exactly what I did.
When you pursue something that’s already in your heart and commit to learning everything you can about that niche, there’s nothing that can hold you back. The path to success becomes a matter of dedication, passion, and perseverance. When you go after your dreams with everything you’ve got, the world opens up, and nothing will stand in your way.
Who has been most helpful in helping you overcome challenges or build and develop the essential skills, qualities or knowledge you needed to be successful?
I have to start with my mother. Her ambition, drive, and passion continue to fuel me every day. I’ve never seen anyone work as hard as she did for my sister and me. From a young age, she taught me to be a go-getter—never wait, never depend on others to make things happen. Of course, ask for help when needed, but don’t sit around hoping for things to fall into place. She instilled in me that there’s no excuse for not making something of yourself, and I’m so grateful for her persistence. She showed me how to be a force to be reckoned with, and now I’m breaking down barriers and tackling challenges head-on.
But the core of my strength comes from my belief in God. He is my foundation, my beginning and my end. I know with Him, anything is possible, and that’s what keeps me going. I try to live by the principle of treating others the way I want to be treated, and I lead with my faith. When I’m down, I know I can pray and find peace. When things aren’t going my way, I hold on and trust that God is working behind the scenes. With Him guiding me, I know I can overcome anything. When blessings are raining down I remember to praise Him. I give thanks before the blessings come, because I know they’re coming!!!
