We were lucky to catch up with Briyanna Releford recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Briyanna, really happy you were able to join us today and we’re looking forward to sharing your story and insights with our readers. Let’s start with the heart of it all – purpose. How did you find your purpose?
Finding my purpose took some years. I attribute the start to first overcoming my anxiety and depression between 2018-2020. That involved learning how to say “no”, replacing bad habits with good ones, and learning and loving my authentic self. I took a hard look at my life by journaling. By reflecting on what brings me joy, what passions drive me, and the impact I wanted to create in the world. Also defining my values and interests. Completely this ultimately led me to Life Coaching. I enjoy working with others in discovering their authentic self and life purpose.
Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
I am a Certified Life Coach specializing in Self Discovery. I use a mix between journal prompts, activities, and affirmations to coach my clients in achieving their goals. With my experience and education, I recently wrote an e- workbook to help my clients and those who are interested in discovering themselves.
“The “Self Discovery & Purpose Workbook” provides an engaging and interactive experience to help uncover unique strengths, values, and goals. Through a series of self-reflective activities, you’ll gain insight into what truly drives and motivates you, enabling you to create a purposeful life that aligns with your personal values. With the guidance of an experienced life coach, this workbook will help you to develop a deep understanding of yourself and create an actionable plan to move forward in achieving your goals.”
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
The three qualities that were most impactful were; resilience, adaptability, and self-preservation. Overall I would advise anyone to embrace challenges and view them as opportunities to grow. Practice mindfulness, meditation, or other stress-reduction techniques to cope with difficult situations. Surround yourself with a supportive network of friends, family, or mentors who can provide encouragement during tough times.
How would you describe your ideal client?
An ideal client is self-reflective and introspective. They are willing to explore their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors to gain insights into themselves and their patterns. My ideal client is someone who is open-minded, motivated, self-reflective, accountable, and resilient. They embrace change, communicate effectively, and have a positive attitude. They value the coaching process and are willing to invest in themselves to achieve their desired growth.
